Compare Socialized Medicine to the American Mess.

They have gone up less than they did under Booosh- of course they can't cut you off now and preventive tests are free, etc etc etc.

If government had been out of the system before they could not have cut you off then.

And nothing is free you jackass.

My costs went down.

Where is that data ?

Sounds like you like your healthcare? Thanks Obama.

It was great long before he moved to destroy it.
The US ranked #37 worldwide before Obama was elected.

If you care what the WHO says....that might be worth responding to.

But given that they don't keep consistent data and place a lot of weight on factors that purposely hurt the U.S. ranking....

Who cares what they say......

Or did you mean to quote that moron Al Franken ?

If single payer is the answer, why have health care costs increased in single payer systems? It is not a panacea. It is just another imperfect system.....
Costs have increased here every year. Single payer countries pay about half what we do.

The WHO report has been debunked here 100 times, but the socialists here will not hear of it.

Never debunked with facts.

Those stats are a lot more reflective on culture as opposed to the healthcare.

There are a couple of things that really stick out. Germany has about 35% more doctors per capita than the US. Secondly, the obesity rate in the US is a huge contributing factor to our increased costs. Interestingly, the US has actually done a much better job in reducing smoking. The funny thing is that doesn't materialize into any seen benefits to the system. While smoking is a problem, it has become evident that obesity is a much bigger problem. If we could reduce obesity, then we would be able to reduce medical costs significantly.

One step that really should be taken is that just as insurance companies charge more for smokers to be insured, they should also charge more for people who are overweight. The more overweight, the higher the premium. This would put much more pressure on employers to address this problem and for people to address it themselves. If an employer tells a fat employee that their health insurance rates are being doubled due to their weight, that employee might work harder and getting themselves in shape.

No one cares that Germany and France lead a lot healthier life styles, have much smaller populations, and are extremely less diverse than the American population? Does that factor in at all to these stats?

But isn't that the point? And why do they need to be factored into the stats? Stats are stats. If you have a massive obesity problem, it affects your health system. It's irrelevant how all those Teletubbies got that way....

Obama Care is not the answer. We need socialized medicine like they have in Germany. We are wasting scads of money on the current care system. Obama care was a step in the right direction but creates as many problems as it tried to fix.

Unfortunately there is a certain percentage of your population (mostly on the right, and in some cases the extreme right) who see the word 'socialised' and immediately think 'communist' and is an anathema to your very existence. The fact that it can exist side-by-side with your capitalist tendances gives them the heebee jeebees.

You can always find an ignorant leftie anti-American who will see a bunch of statistics and immediately assume that Germany or Croatia or where ever has a superior system to the good old USA. Germany has a population of about 81 million. The US has enough illegal aliens to make up almost a 3rd of Germany's entire population. Germany has a restrictive immigration policy and Like every other sad-sack country that adopted the Euro it relies on the US for economic stability.

Germany has a restrictive immigration policy? RATFLMAO!!! You really are an ignorant ass ain't ya?

"One in nine Germans is foreign-born, compared to one in 10 in America. Germany is nearly as much of an immigrant "melting pot" as the US. "

Immigration to become an issue in Germany's next election

I have lived in four other countries besides the U.S. and received medical care in La Paz, Mexico and Toronto, Canada. U.S. healthcare sucks in comparison. Physicians in the U.S. have to turn patients over faster than a waiter turns tables at a Golden Corral. So you get roughly 4-5 minutes with a doc here in America whereas in other countries like France, Sweden, the U.K. the docs can spend more time trying to figure out how to get you well, instead of how to bill your insurance company.

Most likely debunked by public relations departments of large insurance companies or through their lobbyists in Washington.

It's quite relevant because supporters of the European health care systems try to correlate the fact their health care system is the reason why they live healthier lifestyles (eat right, exercise, don't smoke) when in fact it has little to do with it at all, but you already knew that.
