As for Russia's arms deal with Venezuela, we're doing the same with Taiwain and others. But you'd have to remove your blinders in order to see that. It would seem to me, that the US and Russia only help in destabilizing the planet with these arms sales.

Are you really implying that we should've nuked Afghanistan to end the war? Once again, our carpet bombing has done far more damage than one conventional nuke would do,s o your theory fails.

As for libo., Russia is building Iran's nuclear facilities so that they don't get nukes. It is NOT in russia's best interest for Iran to have extra bargaining power in the region, nor is it salutary for them to have someone in their backyard with nukes threatening to destabilize the region. The fact that Russia will be in control of their nuclear programme is a good thing.

venezuela, really man, who cares? Venezuela isn't using a nuke, and if Russia does sign an arms deal with them, it will be for nuclear facilities for energy.

By the way, sorry to burst your bubble, but South Korea, essentially our lapdog (sorry to the S. Koreans out there, just trying to be realistic), is busy establishing nuclear facilities for energy in places like Turkey, Dubai and Jordan. It's time to stop being so scared of the word nuclear.

Actually, the fear of some terrorist framing a country for an act leads to international problems. This is not a Pre-911 world, folks. You have to figure out what is the best way to sink the global economy and promoting war between western powers and some third world countis a great idea.



Now on the issue of Chemical and Biological weaponry. We can say the terrorists already has these. Remember that stockpile of WMD's that we never found! It must have been sold on the black market by now...

This is a GOOD thing. Think of all of the money it will save the US!

A world economy thrown into chaos by even one nuclear weapon blown up in a major city regardless of the country might cost magnitudes in the "world economy;" what did WW-1 cost? In that event we'd have to spend vast sums in other ways to establish a new secure balance of power.

We already have the nuclear deterrent, all we need do is up-keep, at this point. Up-keep means upgrading the technology which right now is something out of the 70's.

We have made it clear to our friends and allies that they can depend on us to provide their nuclear deterrent. This is critically important for Japan, South Korea, the nations of NATO and our "friends" in the Middle East. If our allies cannot depend on us, then they will be motivated to develop or purchase their own nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them. Most of them are capable of doing that in a few years. Extended deterrence enforces nonproliferation, a connection often overlooked in deterrence strategy.

We are not presently keeping the umbrella up to scratch, and it will cost us a lot more later. I think the president's thinking is a lot like the ref'd posts. The president figures we need to cut back anyway; re-testing will cost, so he makes an announcement to claim a new nuclear policy, cutting spending specifically where federal spending is dictated by the constitution.

He is in fact making the world more dangerous in that regard, meaning that we'll spend a lot more later in a more dangerous world. The status quo, put in place by the best minds of the twentieth century, is about to be dismantled by a president who makes unilateral cuts and foreswears options with littlle if any thought of the consequences.

There will be no real effect in holding Iran back from developing nuclear weapons, that much is pretty obvious; now we can expect Saudi Arabia, Syria, even some of the lesser ME states will go shopping for nuclear weapons. This will begin a new world arms race.
That is just my opinion.

Obama's whole problem with foreign policy is that it lacks any degree of intellect and relies solely upon regurgitated ideology.

You don't telegraph your response to your enemies unless you're doing it as a deterrent. Telling people who want to kill you that your response to an attack will be less rather than more... is simply an encouragement.
