County Clerk Who Pushed the ‘Big Lie’ Is Indicted for Election Data Breach

"Mesa County, Colorado Clerk Tina Peters and her deputy clerk Belinda Knisley were indicted on a combined 16 counts on Tuesday night for their alleged involvement in a breach of Mesa County voter data. The indictment, announced Wednesday morning, accuses Peters and Knisley of three counts of attempting to influence a public servant, one count of conspiring to commit the same offense, violation of duty, and failing to comply with the secretary of state. Peters also faces charges of attempting to influence a public servant, criminal impersonation, conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation, identify theft, first-degree official misconduct. Seven of her charges are felonies.

The pair are accused of an elaborate scheme to access voting machines, which were under their office’s care in May 2021. They allegedly plotted to turn off security cameras that monitored the machines, and allowed an unauthorized person to access those machines once security footage went dark. In August, voter information from the machines appeared online, published by conspiracy theorists like Ron Watkins. Peters soon became a regular on the conspiracy circuit, speaking at MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell's “cyber symposium” on supposed voter fraud. (The leaked data did not show election malfeasance.) The indictments recommend the pair be held without bail.

An initial press release from the Mesa County District Attorney stated that Peters had been indicted on 11 counts. The office later clarified that was indicted on 10 counts.

A grand jury in Colorado has indicted Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Tina Peters and her deputy on counts related to election tampering and misconduct.

From a different source:
BREAKING: Tina Peters, Mesa County Colorado clerk indicted on 11 counts of election tampering and official misconduct for stealing vote data and leaking it to pro-Trump conspiracy theorists.

She was charged for multiple counts, but this great video of her screaming at the cops for arresting her is some good stuff. Fraud has no place in an honest Democracy and I hope this lady spends the rest of her life in jail.

You folks who are cheering for your "team" need to spend some time seriously considering just how far you'll be willing to go if your "team" cheats again. Notice I didn't say a damned thing about "proof" or that your media will accept that it happened. The next time, it'll cost more than keyboard time. Just sayin'...

Another win for the good guys.
Just because, she self identifies as a bad guy, conspiracy supporting, trumper doesn't make everybody else a good guy. But definitely, tars her with the bad guy label. The state GOP doesn't even want her running on under their banner. Speaks well for the republican district attorney, though.

What are you going to do? Cry harder next time you think they cheated?

Tina Peters, the pro-Trump elections official in Mesa County, Colorado, who has been accused of leaking sensitive voting machine data, was indicted on 10 counts by a Mesa County grand jury related to her alleged role in the election data breach, according to the county's district attorney. Her aide, Belinda Knisley was indicted on six counts related to the breach.

This doesnt look good does it. A great example of the essential dishonesty at the heart of trumpism. Let us hope that the courts take a stern view on this and that she is locked up for a considerable time..

I like how the "anti-election fraud" crusaders are silent about this.....

Great, another official trying to game the system. All that people like this do is screw over their fellow Americans in general.

Nobody ever suggested Republicans are immune to it. There are a handful that seem to get busted every year.

Well it's not like it's been front and center on the national news. I never heard of it till I saw this thread.

Good. Throw the book at her.

Secure elections are mission critical.

The conditions for this kind of tomfoolery should never exist in the first place.

I'm a credentialed security expert. Every job I've ever had has something to do with security. I've handled cybersecurity for the second largest medical provider in the country, and built Level 4 mantraps for the unnameable three letter agencies.

Here's what I've seen for forty years now:

Our elections are LESS secure, than most corporate security, cyber or otherwise.

Goldman Sachs, Kaiser, and AT&T all have BETTER security than our elections have. Fucking PayPal, has better security than our elections have.

Our selection security is a complete joke, compared to ANY other country in the world. Even Russia. We don't even have purple fingers!

What do you mean “cheats again”? There was no cheating in the last election.

What if your side tried to overthrow the government again? THAT really happened and you pretend it was nothing.

Something has to be done to counter the widespread voter fraud by Democrats.
One thing you can do is prove it in court......that may help....

In fact, since a lot of you Trump sycophants claim to have the evidence, turn the evidence over to your local law enforcement...since these are state crimes.....are you saying the police in a state like Arkansas or Idaho wouldn't prosecute wide spread voter fraud there??

2000 Mules is proof.

Take it to your local sheriff.

If you already have.......what did he say?
If you haven't......why not?

Real men do.
Lesser men don't.
I'm mildly sure you already know that.
