A Colombian mayor submitted a formal complaint to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights alleging the violation of human rights.

A group of Colombians living in the Venezuelan border state of Tachira rejected Thursday claims made by Colombian politicians that their compatriots are the subject of abuse and violations of human rights.

“I give thanks to Venezuela because they opened the door and welcomed us. We are with the revolution because it has always made us feel like we were Venezuelans, we have never been discriminated against,” said Sandra Mejia, who is originally from the Colombian border city of Cucuta.
