Colleges have been around for centuries. College students have also been around for centuries. Yet, college administrators assume that today's students have needs that were unknown to their predecessors. Those needs include diversity and equity personnel, with massive budgets to accommodate.

According to Minding the Campus, Penn State University's Office of Vice Provost for Educational Equity employs 66 staff members. The University of Michigan currently employs a diversity staff of 93 full-time diversity administrators, officers, directors, vice provosts, deans, consultants, specialists, investigators, managers, executive assistants, administrative assistants, analysts and coordinators. Amherst College, with a student body of 1,800 students employs 19 diversity people. Top college diversity bureaucrats earn salaries six figures, in some cases approaching $500,000 per year. In the case of the University of Michigan, a quarter (26) of their diversity officers earn annual salaries of more than $100,000. If you add generous fringe benefits and other expenses, you could easily be talking about $13 million a year in diversity costs.

The Economist reports that University of California, Berkeley, has 175 diversity bureaucrats.
Diversity officials are a growing part of a college bureaucracy structure that outnumbers faculty by 2 to 2.5 depending on the college. According to "The Campus Diversity Swarm," an article from Mark Pulliam, a contributing editor at Law and Liberty, which appeared in the City Journal (10/10/2018), diversity people assist in the cultivation of imaginary grievances of an ever-growing number of "oppressed" groups. Pulliam writes: "The mission of campus diversity officers is self-perpetuating. Affirmative action (i.e., racial and ethnic preferences in admissions) leads to grievance studies. Increased recognition of LGBTQ rights requires ever-greater accommodation by the rest of the student body. Protecting 'vulnerable' groups from 'hate speech' and 'microaggressions' requires speech codes and bias-response teams (staffed by diversocrats).

Complaints must be investigated and adjudicated (by diversocrats). Fighting 'toxic masculinity' and combating an imaginary epidemic of campus sexual assault necessitate consent protocols, training, and hearing procedures — more work for an always-growing diversocrat cadre. Each newly recognized problem leads to a call for more programs and staffing."

Crazy Liberals: diversity is the most important thing, and white people are inversely proportional to diversity
..................basically diversity is another form of hate

Just think, if you conservitards would stop being racists we wouldn't have to pay all those people!

So what's the big surprise? Diversity officials require a lot of, well, diversity, except we all know there isn't much diversity in their aim, methods or outcome. Just one more way for progressive liberals to find room for and the need of, well, more progressive liberals.

So don't get an education and start off working for some loser anti worker anti american company for $17 an hour and tell yourself man this is the american dream. Lmao

You miss the point and the boat. You're NOT laughing your ass off. You're giggling because you think you made a clever remark, replete with bad grammar. Countless millionaires created their own opportunities and companies. Take Bill Gates and Steve Jobs for example. Moreover most employees would be thrilled to start for $17 an hour. You're clueless as to starting job wages and minimum wages.

You think a black studies degree is going to get you a great job? Chicano studies? How about lesbian and gay studies? Go laugh your ass off some more with that one.

Still laughing. You know that one can barely survive on $17 per hour. That's a wage one surely shouldn't be working very hard for. Of course a degree in a desired field is necessary and nobody forced people to take those particular classes. But c'mon 17 an hour is pathetic. My granddaughter just finished her degree and got hired on making 35 an hour plus full Bennie's. That's a decent, still not great wage.

No wonder why my friend has to cut such large checks for his daughter to attend Drexel Med School. And of course, when she graduates, the fees she charges will have to reflect those ridiculous tuitions and fees as well.

"Diversity" is a exorbitant expense.

Let's think about the purpose of hiring people.
1. Is it to support them comfortably, or
2. Is it a mutual contract between competent adults, one who wishes to have work done and pay a price that is acceptable to the other?

Choose only one.

Now for those Marxists who chose number one above, why don't you start businesses that pay the fine wages you think are so urgently needed and compete on the open market. See how long you stay open.

What, you don't want to put your money where your *generous* mouth is? That's the definition of a Democrat.

So then when nobody applies for that job you will say "there are unemployed that should apply for it". That is false.

I am NOT interested in what businesses offer. It is easy to see that if an employer has a hard time finding good employees there is something MARKETDLY WRONG with the employer. They DESERVE to struggle otherwise there would be no issue. American employers have never had such an easy time finding over qualified, hard working reliable workers who will work until they drop. Shame on those that can't find workers. Shut down for God's sake.

What job? You failed to select 1 or 2. You haven't put your money where your *generous* mouth is, have you Marx?

Incidentally, there is a Commandment against your covetousness. Why do you ignore it so angrily and haughtily?

You haven't done well in life, have you? Name a business that makes employees "work until they drop"?
The only thing that comes close to that would have to be:
1. The armed services, where crybabies and weaklings aren't wanted and jeopardize everyone.
2. Sports and activities people do for free, such as running marathons and doing triathlons such as the Iron Man.
I swam, rode, and ran for six and one half hours at a triathlon, including a mile and a half open ocean swim, fifty mile bike ride, and then half marathon. We paid to do it, Karl Marx. If you can't take work, go down to the welfare office. Or have you already?
