I think they're hurting for cash. UIUC is syphoning money from their general fund to prop up sports programs.

It's all about money, ginscpy. College football programs are the BIG moneymakers for the schools. More exposure = better recruits = more money.

NOBODY gives a crap about the "student-athlete". They are pawns in a big money grab.
