This should be the FINAL word on the "who gets credit" silliness.

This is in the paper edition of the Charleston Post and Courier today, but it's a national article. Originally for the Washington Post The path to Osama bin Laden’s death didn’t start with Obama - The Washington Post

Here it goes:

By: Jose A. Rodriquez, the Director of Clandestine Operations (super secret shit), CIA. "How the good guys really got Bin Laden". He was the #1 man in charge of the push to get Bin Laden by our top spy agents. No bullshit, no politics, this was the guy.

You can read the article, but an outline:

- Getting Bin Laden has been the CIA's #1 priority since BEFORE 9-11, not since Obama pledged it so upon winning in 2008.

- 2004, a terrorist named Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi was captured. He was takent to a CIA "black site", and he was uncooperative. He was harshly interrogated, using techniques the DOJ said were legal. Remember, Obama opposed these sites and techniques. He then became compliant. Rodriguez confirms he was NOT waterboarded.

- After becoming cooperative, Al-Zarqawi informed them Bin Laden had no trackable communiations, no internest, phone, anything, and communicated by a single courier. Rodriguez says they knew Bin Laden would be even harder to find. BUT, the prisoner gave a name of the courier, "Abu Ahmed Al-Kuwaiti". (Pre 2005)

- CIA interrogaters used "Abu Ahmed Al-Kuwaiti" as a name and proposed it to other terror detainees. (Pre 2005)

- Khalid Sheik Mohammed, who was waterboarded, reacted to this name "Abu Ahmed Al-Kuwaiti" wish "horror", retreated to his cell, and then was discovered to be sending messages to other terrorists saying to not mention this courier. CIA realized this courier was extremely significant. (Pre 2005)

- 2005 - Another detainee, Abu Faraj Al Libi, told the CIA this courier informed him that Libi had been decided upon as Al Qaida's #3 in command, and the CIA knew this info had to come from a high source.

- Around 2007-2008, the CIA was able to confirm the name of this courier, and worked relentlessly to locate him. This was before January 20th, 2009.

- This effort led to the Bin Laden hideout, and the rest is history.

Rodriguez also notes:

- This effort was mostly done at CIA blacksites, which Obama ordered to be closed the 2nd day of his presidency.
- This effort was also done through "harsh but legal" interrogation methods, which, according to Rodriguez, Obama ordered to stop on his 2nd day in office.

His final quote, "No single tactic, technique or approach led to the operation" that killed OBL. "But those who suggest it was all a result of a fresh approach taken after January 20, 2009, are mistaken."

This should be the end of this subject. Who are we going to believe? The man who was in charge of the CIA' Clandestine Operations? The SEALS? Or Barack Obama, Rachael Maddow, Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstein and left wingers at Occupy protests.

Case closed. There is NO politician who can claim credit for this. According to the men doing the dirty work, the "black ops" work, this effort has been going on since before 9-11, before Bush, before Obama.

I suppose only idiots would argue otherwise.

Hmmm.

I guess liberals are allergic to the truth.

Hmmm. Busy board. Almost half an hour.

Liberals, cant handle the truth on this?

How many times was Bush given the chance to go after Bin Laden on a 40% or 50% oppertunity and chose not to for political reasons? At Tora Bora, the odds were much more favorable, and nothing was done, Bin Laden got away.

President Obama chose to go after the mastermind of the murder of 3000 Americans. Bush did not.

Credit: The Seals, the US Intelligence Agencies who identified where bin Laden was.
Dwight D Eisenhower's mangled quote after he gave the order to go ahead with the Normandy Landings: "At that point he was the most insignificant man in the invasion. Success or failure from then on depended more on the private or the corporal carrying his rifle across the beach than on anything he could do further."
It was the SEALS and the airman delivering and extracting them, by their sweat and their labor, who would shed their blood or lose their lives carrying out this operation, as it always has been, delivering vengeance on behalf of an outraged people..

Jose A. Rodriquez? The torture guy? The crimminal who destroyed the torture tapes? Yeah no doubt you conz would believe him!

You didn't read the original post did you?

President Obama didn't CHOOSE to go after Obama. The CIA says they've been doing that since before 9-11.

BUSH never got the chance. He only ordered the military to keep going after him. If you are gonna criticize someone for not getting him at Bora Bora, how about blame the troops for that?

Yeah, didn't think you would.

That the CIA had been pursuing since before 9/11 is hardly news. That bin Laden would not have been found when he was had not administrations prior to Obama's pursued him seems quite clear. That being said,

How much credit Obama or any other participant deserves is inherently subjective. It is informed by fact, but it is not settled by fact.

Further, Rodriguez seems singularly poorly suited to offer any "FINAL word" on the facts. Putting aside the fact that he is far from disinterested in those facts, he has reportedly improperly destroyed CIA tapes of harsh interrogations in order to avoid public and Congressional scrutiny (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/07/washington/07intel.html). Given that, offering him the "FINAL word" on the benefits of harsh interrogation seems a bit like offering the final word on Watergate to Richard Nixon.

They forget:

W: Well, as I say, we haven't heard much from him. And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don't know where he is. I -- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him.

This thread is pure bullshit, once again trying to spin the facts. I believe former CIA Director Leon Panetta and Senator John McCain's version of events leading to the location of bin Laden.

Don't you just love the CON$ervoFascist Orwellian Doublespeak Rodriquez uses, "Enhanced Interrogation" for TORTURE, and "Dietary Manipulation" for STARVATION!!!

All there is too it.

Now Obama and the Statists are 'spiking the football' that doesn't belong to them.

Obama's President.

He gets the 'credit.'

By the same token, he is responsible for this:

"More than 20 US Navy Seals from the elite unit that killed Osama Bin Laden have died after their helicopter was shot down by insurgents in Afghanistan.
They were among 31 American Special Forces troops and seven Afghan soldiers who were killed when a rocket-propelled grenade destroyed their Chinook helicopter."

The White House produced and hung the banner.

In November 2008, Bush said in an interview with CNN that he regretted the use of the banner

Before 9/11? I doubt Iraq, Bin Laden, the Taliban were in GW's sites. Seriously, his focus was going to be domestic. Really. He was going to be the 'compassionate conservative.' 9/11 changed that.

The MEN requested it. Thier mission was ACCOMPLISHED.

What part of that don't you understand?
