Michael Cohen, President Trump's longtime personal attorney, admitted Tuesday to violating federal campaign finance laws by arranging hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal "at the direction" of then-candidate Trump.


In entering the plea, Cohen did not specifically name the two women or even Trump, recounting instead that he worked with an "unnamed candidate." But the amounts and the dates all lined up with the payments made to Daniels and McDougal.


In total, Cohen pleaded guilty to five counts of tax evasion, one count of making false statements to a financial institution, one count of willfully causing an unlawful corporate contribution, and one count of making an excessive campaign contribution.

Former Trump “fixer” Michael Cohen on Tuesday admitted that he made an illegal campaign contribution with President Donald Trump’s knowledge and direction.

As part of his guilty plea, Cohen admitted to making illegal hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal “at the direction” of Trump, who was described in the plea as a candidate for federal office.

Cohen also told the court that he made the illegal payment “for the purpose of influencing” the 2016 presidential election by covering up the president’s “alleged affairs.”

Cohen’s admission in making illegal campaign contributions was just one of eight different counts to which he pled guilty on Tuesday. Manafort's convictions have nothing to do with Trump. Put down the bong. And Trump certainly did not authorize Cohen to use any campaign funds. Cohen as Trump's personal attorney had a specific account that Trump paid into for many a year. Like you do with your lawyer when you are in business. Personal funds.
