Clinton warns Netanyahu not to punish Palestinian Authority for UN bid

All your perceptions have been hijacked by Western media which has refused to recognize that the Arabs WERE NOT a party to the 1947 partion ...
Are we alluding to the UN "giving the land to jews"?

All I'm saying is that the Western Powers approved the partition of Palestine through their influence at the UN...If we want peace we must understand that the Arabs were not party to to the UN decision and give them a reason like prosperity for their loss experienced by Arab/Israeli citizens....

A Confederation would extend that prosperity and peace a great option for them while insuring access to Jewish and Arab Holy Sites...

The Partition resolution was passed by the General Assembly with a 72% majority. Only three non Islamic countries voted against it, India, Greece and Cuba. Neither the Palestinian Arabs nor the Palestinian Jews were allowed to vote, but both were allowed to argue their cases before the vote.

The UN didn't just decide to create a Jewish state because of the Holocaust or for any other reason. The British were leaving and no other country wanted to take responsibility for the Mandate. The Jews were determined to create a state as soon as the British left with or without the approval of the UN. The Arab states were threatening to massacre the Jews if they did. UNGA 181 was a last ditch effort to prevent a war.

I'm surprised you don't like it since it started the two states out in a loose confederation.

The Economic Union of Palestine

Quite the contrary...I wish both sides had accepted, the entire ME would now be prosperous and peacefull...It made sense then and something similar would make sense today.

Really? It seemed like you were complaining about it - the West pushed it through and the Arabs weren't consulted.

It was a noble idea, but clearly not a good one since it did not gain acceptance from the parties involved and it did not prevent the war. Israel was willing to give it a try in 1948, but it makes no sense now since the Arabs have nothing to bring to the table. A two state solution with easy relations like the US and Canada would be more appropriate under the right conditions, but those conditions are not likely to occur anytime in the foreseeable future.
