Climate Change will not bring about our end~~ but this will; within your grandchild’s fife time

The climate has been changing since day one & it will continue to change, with or without us!!!

Today’s real issue is ENERGY, so let’s get together and fix this while we still can

The end of the Fossil Fuel era is upon us so what are we going to do next-?
Energy information Administration Official Energy Statistics from the US government
http://www.eia.doe.gov/oiaf/forecasting.html

The above report indicates that the US will be using primarily oil as our main energy source through 2030.

The world's total declared reserves are 1,317,400,000,000 barrels (January 2007).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_reserves

World oil consumption 2005 is 80,290,000 barrels per day or 29,305,850,000 per year
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2174rank.html

Dividing annual consumption into total reserves gives us 44.9 years of oil supply at the current consumption rate.

That was eleven (11)years ago, we are not changing our habits and this spells doom for us all.

Do you have any suggestions--?

Libya will be an interesting place to watch.

· Libya’s current production rate is 1.8 million barrels of oil a day

· At that rate Libya will exhaust all its reserves within 63 years

· Existing oil fields undergoing a 7–8% decline rate

They have highways and freeways and use cars and trucks just like the rest of us do.

But up until now gas was pretty much free.

If there is going to be a drive to manufacture electric and hybrid cars for local consumption

now is the time for Libya to use its cash reserves and invest in local production of the next generation power systems.

At least in the US we have the cash and will to build a new future for America and the

people are willing to do their part too. Anyway

I hope people are trying to think this through?

The Oil Crunch
Published: May 7, 2004
The question, instead, is when the trend in oil prices will turn decisively upward. That upward turn is inevitable as a growing world economy confronts a resource in limited supply. But when will it happen? Maybe it already has.

Tight Oil Supply Won't Ease Soon

The world is swimming in oil. More now than at any time in history.

The Bakken Shale alone has over 900 billion bbls.

It's an abundant resource. Not at all scarce. You've been duped.

Look at the dates of your inane links, they all predicted doomsday ......

The Alaska OCS may be one of the largest untapped oil and gas basins in the world. An annual average of 54,700 new jobs would be created and sustained through the year 2057 by its development, with 68,600 during production and 91,500 at peak employment. (University of Alaska Institute of Social and Economic Research, 2011) - Oil and Gas

The greenies would just have to let us drill and it'll all be fine - and I suspect they're going to fall out of power.

That's a local report, from a state that has a heavy dependence upon oil. It's accurate, we base our proposed budgets on reports like that every single year.

Linear solar thermal steam turbines. Geothermal steam. Biodiesels for the heavy lifting.

Well, the climate will change with our actions much more quickly than it would otherwise. And in the opposite direction as it would otherwise.

As for oil, it is a rather valuable resource to simply take out of the ground and burn.

We have the ability to build cheap sodium batteries. There is ample energy for our purposes in wind and solar alone to power our industry, homes, and automobiles. Libya and the rest of the desert nations have a gold mine in solar. They can look ahead and invest accordingly, or look back and remain third world.

As simple minded as your reasoning is, I must point out that "We" cannot "get together" to fix anything. We have supposedly have governments for that but they are too busy fondling young girls and boys and stealing us blind to pay attention to much else.

The total estimated oil in the above article is 30 billion barrels
..,.,.,.,,,.,.....,,..,In one year the world consumes 29 billion barrels

I am not down playing your article; it is great news & thanks for posting it
:)-

Add in new wells that will be drilled in Alaska.
The point is there is oil , we are not running out and almost every single thing that's made now is from oil by products.
More than half of each barrel of oil goes towards oil by products for computer parts to clothing and millions of other products .

So how do explain how our known reserves continue to INCREASE if we are running out?

Known reserves that require some expensive technology to process. As you increase the price per barrel, the amount of reserves increase. At a certain price, even the oil shales can be considered reserves. However, factor in the cost of climate change, and we cannot afford what we are burning now.

You're talking about pumping carcinogenic toxic solvent sludge in, around and near fractile capillary action by our last underground fresh water aquifers. ie: "Fracking"?

Go FRACK yourself if that's your solution...

I am talking about reality. Whatever the dangers, and there are many, of fracking, it will be done as long as there is a good profit to be made by the multinationals. The only way to prevent that is to develop our renewable resources, and get on with creating the cheap batteries that will power EV's, auto's, pickups, and semi's.
