CDZ Climate Change vs. Nuclear Power

You've met someone opposed to Thorium reactor research?

Countless energy technologies are being explored and promoted now. Who's against them? I'd bet it's been the old nuke industry itself holding back Thorium reactor progress far more than anyone else.
No nuclear research in the US because Congress banned it after watching a bad Jane Fonda movie
Link? Yep, Mamooth, you nailed it. All unicorns and rainbows all the time.

10 Reasons Not to Invest in Nuclear Energy

Guaranteed you've never SEEN a daily production chart for a wind farm.. It reaks of unicorns and rainbows... Let me edumacate you a bit so you can't IGNORE the issues....

1st is state of Texas ERCOT grid data.. One graph is the demand. The other is the sketchy wind production output that they bought.. It's there about 1/3 of the days.....

2nd is one of the best sited OFFSHORE wind farms in Denmark.. They used to have daily reports -- took them down because they were embarrassing... Hourly data here with MORE DETAIL than the ERCOT chart.. That 400,000 line is the CAPACITY of this field that they PAID for....

More days with NOTHING than with something. Only about 3 days of "consistent" wind production in that epoch of data..

Can't be scheduled, contracted for or relied upon.. Every KWatt you buy needs a RELIABLE primary source of power to "back it up" (or vice versa)...

For those who actually care: Maps showing wind energy generation potentials throughout the land have long been widely available because.. Duh!, winds vary! As does demand for electrical energy in general.. whether that energy be generated as needed, left stored in the Sun, stored as heat collected in molten salts or other sinks such as stored as water pumped to higher elevations, stored as renewable or nonrenewable fuels, even shifted through the grid to meet distant demand surges. No news here. Just modern day carnival barkers trying to scam folks. Same as it ever was..

The thing is that a molten salt reactor was up and running at Oak ridge labs before Congress pulled the plug on that research.

Is any nation on earth operating such reactors?

No?

Then it appears Congress saved us a buttload of money by not funding that kind of dead-end tech.

The LFTR design was strongly supported by Alvin Weinberg, who patented the light-water reactor and was a director of the U.S.'s Oak Ridge National Laboratory. In 2016 Nobel prize winning physicist Carlo Rubbia, former Director General of CERN, claimed that one of the main reasons why research was cut is that thorium is difficult to turn into a nuclear weapon.[16]
The hidden agenda as always. Both Einstein and Oppenheimer staunchly opposed dropping nuclear bombs on people. Made no difference.

No they were short sighted as they always are.

Research on these reactors has been revitalized

Global race for transformative molten salt nuclear includes Bill Gates and China – NextBigFuture.com

China will beat us to it and we will lose out on being the leader in this technology and it's all because of people like you who refuse to see the reality of our future energy needs
