So now calling someone or something a Nazi is against the rules? Could the mods be so kind as to include in the list of rules any such rule, I wouldn't want to get hammered for some unwritten rule.

We clarified this in the most recent "rule change". The one that collapse USMB from four moderation zones to three.

Changes to USMB Zone Layout and Rules.

"Secondly – if you do flame or snark without sufficient topical content AND you escalate that to excessive levels by calling out members as Marxists or Nazis or racists or other improvable attributions – expect to get ejected from those threads."

The discussion following that rule change (at the link) probably clarifies even further. We are dead set against banning words. You also cannot ban legitimate political terminology.

But we also face increasingly vile and ugly political rhetoric that distracts from discussions. So if you escalate the flaming to these levels of absurdity -- it better have something to do with the TOPIC or you better be able to JUSTIFY it in a Twitter sized package of words.

Politics has gotten nasty recently and that's how people want to engage each other sometimes. The thing that really kicked ass about this place was that it seemed to be the only large political community on the internet that didn't attempt to control the flow of conversation in any way. It's no longer unique in that way.

We don't control the words or opinions. EVERY rule we use on content is based on respecting the PARTICULAR TOPIC of that thread. 100% flame posts or posts that don't move the particular forward with name-calling and rants are not "topical content".

You can any kind of topical content that you like including the flames -- but if you're in the thread just to rumble, take that act to any of the 3 World Famous private USMB Taunting Forums. There's a PLACE for confrontation on USMB. It's NOT in the Zone 1 and Zone 2 Discussion forums.

Bait threads which are becoming common practice here lately, are the lazy man's (woman) way out to get attention. They are useless and are used by ones that really only want to taunt and cause fighting. That is how some are doing of late. They have no place here.
