'Longtime major GOP donors and campaign workers in VA have told me last night and today that with Corey Stewart’s nomination, they are “done” with the party. Last straw, they say. Hard to know how widespread this is, but it’s not good news for Republicans.

Gillespie ran for Governor as a Stewart type candidate and the results were devastating. Gillespie lost by 9 which was more than double what Cuccinelli lost by 4 years earlier. Cuccinelli was a social conservative. Democrats in Northern Virginia turned out and Republicans either did not turn out or they voted Democrat. In addition, Democrats gained 15 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates. If that happens again, there are 3 House seats that could go from Republican to Democrat.
