I dunno, people can barely think for themselves these days, and a large percentage of folks could not survive a week away from their local convenience store. People would rather watch the Heat game than leave their home and family to fight for some political cause.

Only way we're going to see a civil war is if things get REALLY bad. Perhaps following an event where food supplies are cut off for a long time in certain areas, access to clean water halted, etc.

I think what you'd have is 10,000 dead extremist Americans. It'd take a lot more than that. Each one of those 10,000 would have to recruit at least a 1,000 more each and they'd probably still lose.

Some of the northern counties of CO want to form their own state, but the current fed Senate and President won't allow it.

It would take a large tipping point for the US to go to a full scale Civil War. The war will not be so much states fighting each other, it will be based on religion and/or race.

Now if Zimmy is acquitted, there will only be limited rioting by the usual suspects. But that's not a real war. Only after something like a total collapse of the dollar/economy would a war break out. The first areas to riot will always be the areas with the highest crime. Always inner cities with welfare dependency. The chaos will spread from there.

Thinking that 10,000 paranoid militia types are going to be starting the trouble is a liberal fantasy.

I think what you'd have is 10,000 dead extremist Americans. It'd take a lot more than that. Each one of those 10,000 would have to recruit at least a 1,000 more each and they'd probably still lose.

I would highly doubt you could even get 1000 nutballs, let alone 10,000 to form some type of militia against the US Government. Only the Anti Christ could do that In America I think and then you knew the end was near...

A nation which is ranked in the top 10 in the world for its wealth, personal income, standard of living, personal freedom, and education is not likely to destroy itself via a civil war. That's not to say that there won't be protests or even riots over various social issues. There always has been and there always will be. There is a huge difference between protests, either peaceful or violent and a civil war.

About the only people that would like to see a civil war in the US are terrorists and political extremists. Both want to see the nation destroyed but for different reasons.

We no longer have any privacy, and no right to refuse self-incrimination. we have lost as least part of all nine of the rights listed in the Bill of Rights and the states have lost their rights in spite of the 10th amendment.
The value of our money is dropping world-wide. We no longer manufacture to export we simply export jobs and money. Less than 60% of the working age population is actually working and the national debt is well beyond our means to pay it. China has been authorized to buy government bonds without any middle man and will own half the USA government in less than 20 years.

Yes, I see a civil war coming, when the government can no longer pay for the programs that have enslaved the non-working and working population. It may be the only thing that finally unites the people to stand up and take America back.

I can't see how anyone in the US would benefit. Although someone might have visions of starting over again, do you really think the terrorist, Russia, and any number of enemies would allow that to happen? They would be on us likes bees on honey.

Only a person with no foresight would even consider such an action.

This is the most likely scenario. It would take a really bad series of events. Most are living very comfortable lives and couldn't imagine living a moment without that comfort and the latest I-pad.
