city bans smoking in city parks!

Spokane - was that the home base of Super anti-gay crusader Mayor
Jim "I want That Cute Lad to sit on my face" West ? I've heard that Spokane is a wonderful city.
with great agriculture. Top notch Hops and barley.
Oh! yeah that is spokane! He was mayor when I work for the city in the parks department. Of course our training video was called "Give them the pickle!". I also think he went against city policy by using a city computer for personal use but he never did anything with anyone under age which is what they used a basis to get him impeached. They went on a witch hunt and he was their number one guy. Even the FBI got into and never came up with anything on it. He was gay and abused his power but he was not a child molester and he died from cancer less than six months after he was impeached.

In Seattle there was a running joke about Spokane, we called it Spokomptin ...

(Don't hate me Luissa!)
who do you think first came up with spocompton? Someone for spokane! There is also methelhem, spovegas as people from chewelah call it. I am moving to the west side once it is fincially possible.

I was young when I first heard it so I didn't know it's origins, too young to look it up. Haven't heard/read it used in a while though.

this is pretty funny about the different definitation of Spokompton.
Urban Dictionary: spokompton

I have to agree with one of them where it states young people came up with it who live here because Spokane is so ghetto! The only good thing about Spokane is you can get good weed.

Former County Commissioner John Roskelley, who tried unsuccessfully to ban smoking at the county fairgrounds, said the smoking ban should be extended to golf courses, even if a broader ban would be difficult politically.

“No one who doesn’t smoke should have to breathe that foul air,” Roskelley said.

“It’s one thing to put the hammer on kids and other types of people at Riverfront Park who really don’t have a voice. It’s another thing to implement a ban on golf courses where there are a lot more influential people.”

They are first going to enforce this at Riverfront park the 100 acre city park downtown which also has rides, and Imax and holds many large events. They already have smoke free zones and designated smoking areas for large events. They just raised the taxes in our state to bail out our state government and fund more programs and now they pretty much saying "screw you" to the smokers. Riverfront park which is a low cost amusement park where mostly low income people take their families and we all know lower income people smoke more. This year they raised the price of season passes and are also about 60,000 dollars in the hole for this year, and now the want to cut their client base. SOunds like a good plan to me.
The next step is to ban it at the golf courses! Which is also stupid to me since if you are playing in a group of four and someone doesn't like smoke you have a whole course to go smoke somwhere.
Having worked at this park the only time you see the park board members in the park is when they are jogging through or some special event and they are the ones voting on this???

Idiots like this guy need to be kept in padded cells.

THat is how I think about it all. At the park I am talking about every year they have an event called Pig Out in park where people come down in the thousands to eat fatty foods that probably cause more health risks to people than someone smoking in a outdoor park.
Why don't they ban twinkies or tax the hell out of them? How about energy drinks? People who do coccain for energy probably have less chance of health problems than if they drank two energy drinks a day.

You miss the point. No one cares if you eat a greasy hamburger or a Twinkie. So long as you don't smoke them near us, you stinkers!

The Anti-Smoking Purge Is Borrowed From The Nazis (story).

A wealth of overlooked yet frightening literature concerning the Nazi crusade against smoking provides a clear parallel to contemporary developments and an alarming warning that state restriction of personal habits is the pre-cursor to dictatorship.

Beginning in the early 1930's, as part of the Nazi agenda for racial purity, Hitler spearheaded a national campaign to ban smoking in all public buildings, and denounced the practice as a betrayal of the fascist drive for bodily purity.

"Brother national socialist, do you know that our Führer is against smoking and think that every German is responsible to the whole people for all his deeds and emissions, and does not have the right to damage his body with drugs?" stated one magazine.
Sound familiar? Welcome to the Obama Deception Fascist State (link) of CanAmeriMexico . . .

there is a reason he is not our county commissioner anymore!
In the same park you are also not allowed to feed the ducks anymore because they poop on the grass even though the ducks have been there longer. So this winter when it is harder for them to find food they were heading downtown to panhandle for food. SO I think this next week when it is nicer I am going to down there and smoke a cigarette while I feed the ducks!:lol:
