I didn't expect this at all.

I did. This is why I've been saying for weeks that the GOP nominee could end up being Newt. No one in the GOP outside the Rockefeller Republicans actually wants Romney, and Cain and Perry are both in self destruct mode. Now they're actually all taking post shots at each other, they'll end up knocking themselves out of the running.

Makes me wonder who Newt will pick for his running mate.
