So what's next? Will they demand pictures of obese asses and clogged arteries on buckets of KFC chicken? Foul , destroyed livers on beer bottles? How about pics of fatal car accidents on the driver's side sun visor? IMO this is way over the top. They should either ban tobacco entirely or back off.

Corpses and coffins? FDA proposes graphic cigarette labels
Larger warning images part of a new initiative to reduce smoking
RICHMOND, Va. — The federal government hopes new larger, graphic warning labels for cigarettes that include images of corpses, cancer patients, and diseased lungs and teeth will help snuff out tobacco use.
The images are part of a new push announced by the Food and Drug Administration and the Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday to reduce tobacco use, which is responsible for about 443,000 deaths per year.

It's just another one of those things that the government thinks they should do so they can "feel good" about themselves. See, they are a bunch of sleezy bastards. On one hand they don't want you to smoke but on the other hand they love the sin taxes on cigarettes. Somebody needs to tell the sons of bitches that they can't have it both ways. Put a ban on cigarettes or quit fucking with them.

Our gov't is laughable

WHAT A JOKE!

It would be easier to laugh at them if this kind of insanity only happened once in awhile but they REALLY think shit like this works. This kind of belief system is destroying us.

I just find it hard to realize that the tobacco companies are willing to sit still for this. Or that the average person doesn't see this danger of this type of government overreach.

It's similar to bosses who make you life miserable but think several motivational posters in your office will help. :cuckoo:
The gap widens between virtual and real.

Anyone who does not know by now that cigarette smoking is bad for you is either under 2 yrs old or a moron.

I am glad our congress devotes so much time to such critical issues at this point in our history.

What is next? Putting a little chip like in some greeting cards that yells a warning to those nearby every time you pull a cig out?

"WARNING, WARNING second hand smoke alert!, Please stand clear"

Even worse, something similar to this in the packaging:

I recall when the laws were changed allowing attorneys to advertise.
What we have now is EXACTLY what I and other opponents argued.
The lawyers said they were professionals and would never encourage people to sue and such.
