Yet another reminder. I've only been talking about this for over a decade.

Is America and the West awake yet?

CIA official: China waging ‘quiet’ cold war against US

ASPEN, Colo. — China is waging a “quiet kind of cold war” against the United States, using all its resources to try to replace America as the leading power in the world, a top CIA expert on Asia said Friday.

Beijing doesn’t want to go to war, he said, but the current communist government, under President Xi Jingping, is subtly working on multiple fronts to undermine the U.S. in ways that are different than the more well-publicized activities being employed by Russia.

“I would argue … that what they’re waging against us is fundamentally a cold war — a cold war not like we saw during THE Cold War (between the U.S. and the Soviet Union) but a cold war by definition,” Michael Collins, deputy assistant director of the CIA’s East Asia mission center, said at the Aspen Security Forum in Colorado.

Rising U.S.-China tension goes beyond the trade dispute playing out in a tariff tit-for-tatbetween the two nations.

There is concern over China’s pervasive efforts to steal business secrets and details about high-tech research being conducted in the U.S. The Chinese military is expanding and being modernized and the U.S., as well as other nations, have complained about China’s construction of military outposts on islands in the South China Sea.

“I would argue that it’s the Crimea of the East,” Collins said, referring to Russia’s brash annexation of Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula, which was condemned throughout the West.

China has been our true enemy since we opened the door to trade with them and most likely will be the next world superpower.

Doesn't the freaking CIA (with a secret budget) have anything constructive to do besides leak phony stuff about China that doesn't even bear a distant resemblance to a "Cold War" as we knew it? There are no secrets left and the CIA has become nothing but a propaganda source for the MSM. Drain the freaking swamp.

I can tell you I've studied this issue for some time. All of it leads back to the WTO. Well I suppose technically it leads back to Nixon, or even further back to WW2 when China was attacked by Japan (and were mercilessly slaughtered and pillaged by Japanse soldiers), but in terms of them being legitimized, the WTO did it. It's the most embarrassing failure of Human Rights and dignity in global history, outside of an active war of course.

If any of you guys know a CIA recruiter, let them know if they need anyone to help them beat these Communists I'm game, they can even pay me half the salary hah. We've been fighting their political and economic abuses for some time in Canada and we've had very weak politicians on this issue. They are more than happy to watch my rights get crushed, so you know politicians here of all stripes don't have the courage to stand up to Chinese govt. that's for sure.

I'm not the kind of guy who hides under his bed, I hate fear mongering. However, this is as serious an issue as America has ever faced and the message needs to be repeated. Of course Russia is a threat, and really many nations have their interests that often collide with the U.S, but the Chinese government is an entirely different beast.

Actually, I believe Russia is just as dangerous. Russia and China play together, as well as Iran, at this dangerous game.

You're insane. If they leaked sensitive details of what is going on you would be you buying your Survival Kit. These Communists mean business and they've been absolutely decimating your economy and secrets for some time. This isn't a game, these Commie sob's mean business and they are a massive economy.

Wake up and stop devaluing the threat. I have a beef with my own country, but even I won't disregard the legitimate threat these same police agencies who have screwed me over now face.

That's my fear. I stated this before the election results however I have a suspicion that Russia is probably starting to get concerned about Chinas economic and military Might as well. It is why I thought Trump and others might be willing to triangulate this issue, and use Russia, and others in the region to counter Chinas strength.

Russia is being dwarfed and facing their own challenges with China even as they have a relationship, this could be one issue they can work together on in some fashion. Maybe I'm optimistic and naive, but there is no way Russia doesn't see this 1.4B behemoth as some potential threat, who knows what the SVR have picked up from China. You can't convince me a Communist government is concerned about their "friends".

I can understand polite Canadians believing that legitimate trade with a country that has gone from insane socialism to capitalism in fifty years constitutes some sort of new CIA term of a "quiet" Cold War but it just ain't true. People who have lived through a Cold War know what it looks like and the word "quiet" doesn't make any sense. Sixty five years ago the Red Chinese were shooting at us during Truman's war in Korea. Today China is engaging in sanctions against the N.K. regime. We fund the CIA (with a secret budget) to deal with covert international problems but they haven't been on the right side of anything since JFK used them to raise and equip an illegal invasion army that they abandoned at the Bay of Pigs. During the Bush administration the CIA decided that George Bush "outed" socialite Valery Plame and it became a scandal that the left wing fed on based on CIA leaks designed to undermine the republican administration. The CIA was wrong and it was reporter Robert Novak but the damage was done. The CIA has become the propaganda arm of mostly democrat administrations and the more they leak allegations against foreign powers which are intentionally designed to undermine republican administrations the dumber they look in the age of information. Except to Canadians.

What in the history of mankind has ever suggested to you that a Communist government in which the leader basically has no term limits is a trustworthy nation?

This isn't a small agrarian society anymore, they are the second largest economy in the world. They are the third most powerful military. They are the greatest threat America has faced in its history.

China-Russia Relations Reality Check - Jamestown

I really wouldn't worry too much about Russia, they are the undeniable junior partner in Sino-Russian relations and not true allies and Russia is quite leery of China's growing power and influence.

It's America first and every other nation is untrustworthy. Does that stick in the craw of polite Canadians? The problem for the CIA is that there is no such designation as a "quiet cold war" and any "intelligence agency" that promotes such crap is guilty of treason.

I'm going to wear my CIA shirt tomorrow, or maybe my hat.

God Bless America! Get 'er done Trump! God Bless the CIA for keeping the sorry asses of fake democracies safe.

I don't have a CIA shirt and in case you didn't notice it's getting dangerous here in the States for people who openly advocate "make America great" on a freaking red hat. Hatred is a powerful drug and the crazy left is being fed a dose of it every day by the mainstream media.

China has only to do one thing. China needs to replace the dollar as the petro dollar to the China won. It has been reported that China has been stock piling tons of gold and silver for 20 years or longer. Why? They will in the future bring forth the Gold won, that can be exchanged for gold at a China exchange. Doing this will force the dollar to decrease in demand and will join the un-back world money supplies. This puts them on top of the finance of many companies, and credit unions. They have banks all over the world as it is. Think long and deep on this as their plan of the future.

For the life of me I can't understand why a CIA agent would use the term "Cold War" or even "quiet cold war" to describe an economic confrontation that has been going on for more than two decades. What was he like nineteen years old? In case you didn't know China owns the Swedish auto manufacturing company Volvo and they are making cars in South Carolina. Does that sound like a freaking cold war? If the CIA continues to use these clowns to foment anger among mostly ignorant Americans and foreign allies we definitely need to drain the freaking swamp.
