Churches leader calls Norway rampage 'blasphemous'

Don't forget that christianity has a built in exoneration. Follow this line of thinking...

True christians don't kill...Therefore he is not a christian. There all settled.:cuckoo:

It really is quite amazing to hear.

Christians have never killed anyone in the history of the world.

A Christian is merely someone who accepts Jesus Christ as the Son of God and seeks to be His Disciple.

That person can be good or bad. I don't accept these bullcrap arguments from people on who is a real Christian or not simply so they can say someone isn't Christian when they do something wrong. Christians do wrong things all the time. Else, what was the Atoenment for?

Thankfully, Behavior does not determine truthfulness or falsehood. That must be learned by study, reasoning, and prayer.

Tsk, tsk...if the church is disowning killers and does not fund/support them, then it isn't an issue of religion, is it?

This terrorist claims to be a Christian. Same thing can be said for terrorists who claim to be Muslim.

Neither can be a true Christian, nor Muslim and justify terrorism.

Forgive me for asking, but why not?

OK. You walked right into this. Most Christians would say that this guy who committed terrorist acts in the name of Christianity could not be a true Christian.

Muslims mosques disown terrorists too. It can't be an issue of religion, then, according to your logic.

The easiest way to find out how biased the media is, is wait and see if they call this an act of "christian terrorism" as you know they would be sure to note the religion in the title if the person were muslim.

In a perfect world we'd stop paying attention to the religion of these nutjobs and just call them, well, nutjobs, but for some reason it gives certain people comfort when others are killed by someone of a different religion than them.

Bullshit.

They stopped using the word Muslim a long time ago. I am not surprised you missed it though.

Tell me something, how often have you heard Muslim associated with the Times Square bomber, the underpants bomber, or Maj. Hasan?

The head of the world's largest ecumenical group accused Norwegian gunman Anders Behring Breivik of blasphemy Monday for citing Christianity as a justification in his murderous attack on government buildings and a youth camp that left dozens dead.

In an online manifesto published shortly before Friday's attack, Breivik styled himself a Christian conservative fighting against Marxist conspiracies and the perceived Muslim colonization of Europe.

"It's important to say to all Muslims wherever they are, in Europe or elsewhere in the world, that these actions in no way can express what is our Christian faith and our Christian values," Rev. Olav Fykse Tveit told The Associated Press. "It is blasphemous to make that kind of connection."

Just because someone calls themself a fucking christian does not make them one. You will know a christian by their deeds and words.

I've already stated why this is untrue.

You are saying that a true Christian could be a terrorist? I am saying terrorists cannot be true Christians or Muslims.

Neither religion supports the killing of innocent people.

The same can be said for Muslims. True Muslims are not terrorists. Hitler said he was a Christian, and in one famous speech, he justified his hatred of Jews with the Bible.

There is no way you could say Hitler was a true Christian.

Imams all over Islam disagree with you.

Hmmm...let's see who is more knowledgeable...imams...or Sky...imams...or Sky....

All over the world, 1.5 billion people practice Islam. It is a tiny percent of those who are terrorists.

True muslims follow the quran, the book that tell's all true believers to kill unbelievers.

One more time you will know a Christian by their deeds and words.

Jesus Christ! I think it's wonderful what this church leader said.

Why all this idiocy from USMB posters?

If it turns out he did this in the name of jesus, then he's a sick person needing our sympathy and it would be just mean to put labels on this misguided person.

I kept a straight face right up to the last 2 words

One could say the same thing about Osama bin Laden.

One could, if one were insincere.

You're the first to say that.

And blasphemy gets you the fast lane to hell. Not even the catholics cut you any slack on that one.
