The union employees of GM and Chrysler take in a total, with ALL benefits included, of $74.00 hour.

Toyota, Mazda, Honda, and nissan pay their employees ~$52.00/hour with all benefits included.

This is why the american car companies can't compete with them.

Look before you leap.

The workers don't design the cars. They don't set the quality standards. They don't decide which cars to make.

You are half right. It was poor mgt decisions coupled with unions inflating the pay scale of the workers so the company could not be competitive with non union companies. Greed and mismanagement on both sides did it.

American cars tend to be less expensive than foreign models. Yet Americans still do not want to buy them. It is not the unions fault if the cars being produced are not what the public wants...that is a management decision.

Unions and workers have made major concessions on wages and benefits in the last decade. CEOs and top management have not
