Trump, Chrysler continue war of words on Jeep | The Detroit News | detroitnews.com

Chrysler repeatedly has said it has no intention of moving Jeep production to China — merely to add Jeep production there for Chinese buyers.

Gilles, who also heads Chrysler's SRT brand, responded to Trump, tweeting an expletive: "You are full of …" More than 6,700 people retweeted or favorited the comment. Later Thursday, Gilles tweeted: "I apologize for my language, but lies are just that, lies. Thanks for the support people."

lol all of the sudden Libs believe what a corporation says. Well I never.

You are in idiot. They are playing semantics. They got Billions in Bail out money, and they are making a Decision to Manufacture Jeeps in China instead of Making them here and shipping them.

Ralph Gilles, Chrysler Executive, Lashes Out At Donald Trump

11/01/2012

By Bernie Woodall

DETROIT, Nov 1 (Reuters) - A Chrysler executive told Donald Trump in a Tweet on Thursday that the real estate executive and television personality was "full of shit" for repeating a notion that Chrysler is shipping U.S. Jeep production to China, which the automaker refutes.

Ralph Gilles, the head of product design for Chrysler, became the second top Chrysler executive in three days to strongly deny the claim, which was first made by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney last week to a crowd in Ohio.

Trump, from his Twitter account, said, "Obama is a terrible negotiator. He bails out Chrysler and now Chrysler wants to send all Jeep manufacturing to China--and will!"

To which Gilles, from his Twitter account, responded to Trump: "You are full of shit!"

In a second Tweet, Gilles added: "I apologize for my language, but lies are just that, lies."

On Tuesday, Chrysler Group LLC Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne, in an e-mail to employees, also flatly denied Romney's claim.

"I feel obliged to unambiguously restate our position: Jeep production will not be moved from the United States to China," Marchionne wrote.

If Republicans have to lie to make their point, what's the point?

Fox Airs Misleading Fact Check Of Romney Jeep Ad

Fox News chief national correspondent Jim Angle provided a misleading fact check of Mitt Romney's ad claiming that Chrysler is sending a Jeep production line to China. Angle cherry picked a line from Chrysler's CEO to portray Romney's ad as accurate. In fact, Chrysler has made it clear that Romney's claims are false.

✄snip>

In addition to Chrysler, there has been strong criticism from GM, fact checkers, and local media in Ohio of Romney's false claims that Jeep is sending U.S. jobs to China. On Tuesday, GM spokesman Greg Martin stated: "No amount of campaign politics at its cynical worst will diminish our record of creating jobs in the U.S. and repatriating profits back to this country." PolitiFact rated Romney's claim "pants on fire" false, and The Washington Post's resident fact checker, Glenn Kessler, gave the ad "four Pinocchios."

Fox previously attempted to hide the backlash to Romney's ad.

Damn, you fucking libs will believe anything!

According to the Detroit Free Press, Romney stated during an Ohio rally, "I saw a story today that one of the great manufacturers in this state, Jeep, now owned by the Italians, is thinking of moving all production to China." Governor Romney was referring to the Bloomberg (hardly a right-wing organization) piece which stated, "Fiat SpA (F), majority owner of Chrysler Group LLC, plans to return Jeep output to China and may eventually make all of its models in that country, according to the head of both automakers' operations in the region." This inference was taken from comments that a Chrysler / Fiat executive made when he questioned whether the automaker should, "... be localizing the entire Jeep portfolio or some of the Jeep portfolio" by manufacturing Jeeps in China. The facts seem very clear that Romney made an understandable assessment of the story. The Bloomberg statement that Chrysler / Fiat may eventually make all Jeeps in China led to Romneys claim that a news story reported that Jeep was thinking of moving all production to China. Sure sounds logical to me.

The biased media and the Obama team are claiming Romney was wrong as Chrysler recently flip-flopped and attempted to clarify its comments by now saying that it may only move SOME of the Jeep manufacturing to China. Fair enough. The fact remains, a bailed out auto company (Chrysler) that was given to the Italians (Fiat) by the Obama Administration is likely to move at least some, if not eventually all, production of Jeeps to China. Taxpayers paid billions of dollars for the bailout and now it appears jobs will be lost to China just as Obama accuses Romney of being the outsourcer. And there is absolutely no justification to accuse Romney of being wrong, as he accurately interpreted the original story.

Clearly YOU need to heed that advice.

It's ok to admit that you have been flatly wrong, Carbuncle.

I know how to read, fuckwit, and how to comprehend.

It's a shame you can do neither...

Any one want to bet that the plant built in China will have a capacity much larger than is required to meet the need of the Asian market? When the plant is built and people trained which will take a few years, Jeep production here will disappear. I've got a hundred bucks, any takers?

Sure...ten to one odds.

Note: they are INCREASING Jeep production at Jefferson Ave (Detroit) and Toledo!

Of course they are, the worldwide demand for their vehicles is strong and they've got to build them where they can. In a couple years time their Chinese factory will be built and the burden of production will shift there.

THAT'S when the jobs will go away...

At least that is what Fiat was contemplating in their statement.

If Jeeps come back to America it will be a first.

Of the automobiles produced, 44.3% were local brands (including BYD, Lifan, Chang'an (Chana), Geely, Chery, Hafei, Jianghuai (JAC), Great Wall and Roewe), and the rest were produced by joint ventures with foreign car makers such as Volkswagen, General Motors, Hyundai, Nissan, Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi etc. While most of the cars manufactured in China are sold within China, exports reached 814,300 units in 2011.[4] China's home market provides its automakers a solid base and Chinese economic planners hope to build globally-competitive auto companies.

As of 2012 exports of Chinese automobiles were about 1 million vehicles per year and rapidly increasing. Most sales were made to emerging economies such as Algeria, Brazil, Chile, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, or Syria[4] where a Chinese-made automobile such as a Geely, Great Wall, or Chery sells for about half of what a comparable model manufactured by a multinational brand such as Toyota does.
