Christie's Traffic Jam on the George Washington Bridge.

Now that I work in Jersey I have to take the George Washington Bridge Daily. Something curious happened last summer. There were lane closures but no one was working on the bridge. Ever. And at all. It was infuriating and caused LOTS of traffic.

Well..this year I found out it was the result of a "study". But it was a study that no one owned or announced. And it was a study with no results. And lately? It's not a study. And the plot has been thickening..

There’s been a simmering controversy in New Jersey, which initially appeared a little too outlandish to take seriously. But late Friday afternoon, the story took an interesting turn.


A Port Authority official with close ties to Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey is resigning after state lawmakers questioned whether lane closings on the George Washington Bridge that led to extensive traffic backups in September were politically motivated.



The official, David Wildstein, will resign as the director of interstate capital projects at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey on Jan. 1, according to a letter he wrote to the agency’s deputy executive director, Bill Baroni. The resignation was first reported by The Record newspaper, of northern New Jersey.

I'd pass by the cones in the morning..no work.

That was another huge Obama mistake, providing cover for Republican governors.

You seem to forget that the money was given as grants and the states could decide how that money was used.

Rubes like Jindal, who went around his state with big checks..after saying he'd "never" take them, used the money to keep cops, firemen and teachers on the payroll along with his big tax cuts.

THAT'S what Obama should have said, instead of the Shovel Ready not Ready nonsense.

The story may have wheels. A phone call from a top aid to the Governor closed the bridge lanes. He has resigned and the whole situation is getting alot of attention. The Port Authority is a joint NJ/NY operation. People want to know how an individual aid to a Governor of one state can cause so much trouble and problems with a phone call. They have yet to get a valid reason for the lane closures. One was given, an alleged traffic study, but that has turned out to be a lie, making the situation worse for the aid and the Governor.

They have been fired.

Christie took ownership of the problem and discussed how it apparently was done and why without his knowledge. He didn't blame anyone but himself for somehow allowing his people to think that would be a good idea and they could get away with it. His speech was refreshing after listening to Obama blame everyone from Bush to videos.

Leadership qualities are so, sooooooo refreshing after the past 5 years of nothing but blaming others for sheer incompetence.

This occurrence will both help Christie, and hurt Christie, depending upon one's perspective. It won't go away, though, in the next 3 years.

He IS looking so good, after losing more than half his desired weight loss goal.
