Chris Hahn owning Stuart Varney on Foodstamps

So Democrats think that record numbers of people living in poverty and on food stamps is a sign of success of Obamanomics.

That explains a lot

You win the award for the thread's biggest strawman and distortion.

How do you define the success of Obamanomics? Is it the 1.3 Trillion deficit? 9.6%+ unemployment?

What the unemployment rate for young black males these day?

Then, why not put everyone on food stamps, if the economic efficacy is superior?

That would require a large amount of people being at extreme poverty, food stamps are only available to the very, very poor who have absolutely no income or very, very little of it and the goal of no politician is to make anyone extremely poor. On the flip side, please explain why the government gets more of a return with foodstamps than with tax cuts for the wealthy, is it because one is using the money for its intended purpose while the other is not and just hoarding cash?

It's "intended purpose"? Who the fuck gets to say what people spend their OWN money on? And does "hoarding cash" mean "saving for a rainy day"? Flawed. Seriously, seriously flawed. :cuckoo:

There a very few "very, very poor people" in this country. Take a look at Haiti and Uganda, and let us know how many own cell phones and big screen T.Vs

People in this country should not go hungry. But let's not forget, their children are getting two meals a day at school.

Bull argument. Food stamps do NOT 'stimulate' the economy and certainly do not create jobs. It is partisan hackery that wants to push these programs. The funny thing about it is that food stamps not creating jobs has NOTHING to do with support of the program. Food stamps ARE NOT FOR CREATING JOBS, they are a safety net so that people are not left starving on the streets. In that matter there is limited success. Just because people gaff at the idea that food stamps are creating jobs does not mean that they do not support a food stamp program in general. I would not like to see food stamps eliminated in any way though I would like more oversight for those on the dole.

You're absolutely correct. But some people dont want to be honest when it comes to social programs.

Tell us random internet users why the chart is wrong. Don't make this about anything else except why that chart is wrong if you can

It is called the broken window fallacy. Here is a video description for those that do not know what this is.

"I would like more oversight for those on the dole."

Yep who watches our government? Not in a partisan manner either.

That is our job though we do a piss poor job of it collectively. There are too many of the gullible masses for those that pay attention to make a large enough impact. Of course I was referring to the sad state that food stamps is in though. It has gotten slightly better with the new credit card that has come out but there are MANY issues with the program in general. IMHO, I would MUCH prefer the program to mirror WIC in the manner of execution. THAT is a program that has little room for abuse.

WIC is abused as well. Breastfeeding moms can sell or give away the free formula. Formula costs a bundle.

No system is perfect, but there is little incentive for govt. workers to investigate fraud and abuse. It's not their money. We had a long discussion a while back about unemployment fraud. When my husband turned someone in, he was basically told "we don't care".

All things can be abused. What I said is there is little room for abuse. It is there but at MUCH smaller proportions mainly because the system defines exactly what and how much you will be receiving.

More totaltarianism. How nice.

How exactly is that totalitarianism? If you are on the government dole, using MY taxes to purchase your goods your damn right you should be told exactly what you are going to use that money on. I do not fund food stamps through my taxes so you can buy Doritos and Snickers bars. That money is to feed you decent food as a safety net when you cannot afford it yourself and it should be defined to the point of EXACTLY what you are getting. Don't like that type of food, pay for it your damn self!

Yep. I'd like to see community food banks where people can buy fresh food and even school supplies for their kids. That way they won't be able use their welfare cards at the casino.
