Chris Carter: This Belongs in 'Politics'

No....I did it.

Just one more hint to the ineducable.....i.e., folks like you.

Being the eternal optimist, I keep hoping you Leftists will understand the damage you've done to the society.

And you're never going to figure that out until you learn the difference between "Liberal" and "leftist".

Again ... Liberals invented this country; "society" invents itself.

Synonyms: totalitarian, Liberal, socialist, communist, fascist, Progressive, Nazi....

Classical liberals invented this country, based on individualism, free markets, and limited constitutional government.
Modern Liberals stole the name and replaced Socialist with it.

Take notes.
  1. Unlike classical liberalism, which saw government as a necessary evil, of simply a benign but voluntary social contract for free men to enter into willingly, the belief that the entire society was one organic whole left no room for those who didn’t want to behave, let alone ‘evolve.’ Thus progressive reformers saw the home as the front line in the war to transform men into compliant social organs.
  2. John Dewey renamed Progressivism as ‘liberalism,’ which had referred to political and economic liberty, along the lines of John Locke and Adam Smith: maximum individual freedom under a minimalist state. Dewey changed the meaning to the Prussian meaning: alleviation of material and educational poverty, and the removal of old ideas and faiths. Classical liberals were more like what we call Conservatives.

    c. “Finally, Dewey arguably did more than any other reformer to repackage progressive social theory in a way that obscured just how radically its principles departed from those of the American founding. Like Ely and many of his fellow progressive academics, Dewey initially embraced the term "socialism" to describe his social theory. Only after realizing how damaging the name was to the socialist cause did he, like other progressives, begin to avoid it. In the early 1930s, accordingly, Dewey begged the Socialist party, of which he was a longtime member, to change its name. "The greatest handicap from which special measures favored by the Socialists suffer," Dewey declared, "is that they are advanced by the Socialist party as Socialism.”

See how much you've learned today!

"Classical Liberal" is made-up demagoguic bullshit designed to sell the books of hack writers like Jonah Goldberg. :eusa_hand:

John Dewey??? Who the fuck died and left John Dewey in charge of the English language? FUCK John Dewey.

"Liberal" is "Liberal" is "Liberal". You don't get to pretend it means cherry here and pineapple there.

Gee.... a Liberal answering a documented post with "is not....is noooottttt"!

Must be what Coulter had in mind here:

a. ''Let me give you a little tip: if you want liberalism to continue in this country, you have to realize that liberal students are being let down by their professors! They have liberal school teachers, and read the liberal press! Because of this weak preparation, they are unable to argue, to think beyond the first knee-jerk impulse. They can’t put together a logical thought. Now, compare that to a college Republican…"

Ah, so I'm forced to amend:
"B-but... but... Antonio Gramiski and John Doobie and Sol Gablinsky and Ann Colder said so!

Citing Coultergeist as a source for a definition of Liberalism is like asking Mike Tyson to explain string theory.

Let's investigate your alleged expertise on Queen Ann....

Which of her dozen best sellers have you read?

I fervently hope the answer isn't 'none'...as that would catapult you into the lead as
our main source of greenhouse gases.

PC, this nonsense must give you some odd sort of pleasure? The piece you are missing here, is this is America, and sports is America's god. Would you rather our secular society were more like Iran? You seem possessed to me, do you have no other life than this? Kinda sad. Go out and smell the flowers while they're still blooming and leave your PC alone, get a life. And good luck.

" this nonsense must give you some odd sort of pleasure..."

Are you nuts???

Well...I mean, everyone has seen that you are certifiable.....
....but let's get it on the record:
I hate what you Liberals have done to my country.
A Hall of Fame player, hired to represent the NFL....

...and telling rookies, not to behave, to act like reputable adults....but not to get caught.
To find some idiot (you need a job?) to be the "fall guy."

This is simply a corollary of Liberalism: whatever feels good, do it.

Once again -- Liberalism -- or any other political philosophy -- has to do with (duh) POLITICS ... not with "responsible adults" or "behaviour" or any kind of "morality".

Politics means how government works.... not what level of miscreancy fucking football players can get away with.

Which of Coulter's dozen best sellers have you read?

Is there a reason that that query strikes fear in your heart?

Uhhhmmm..... no it doesn't.

That's why you correctly put it in "Sports". Or did the site do that for you?

Liberalism....the force behind 'separation of church and state' and in support of a subjective, individual morality.

Liberalism is a political philosophy. Got squat to do with "morality".

But liberalism (as well as many other political ideologies) often express their positions in moral terms.

I recent read a very influential book that argues political movements are in their own way just as "faith based" as Christianity or any other major religion. All are human constructs that generally rely on unprovable assertions. :)

Finally, an actual intelligent comment.

No doubt -- any kind of philosophy -- or for that matter any opinion --- will express in 'moral' terms as far as its belief in its own rectitude. But that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying a political philosophy is, by definition, not ABOUT morality but about politics. The OP here would have us believe Liberalism, all alone among political theories, somehow developed pulpits to preach personal issues.

It didn't.

Liberalism merely declares the end of top-down Authoritarianism as a structure of government, in favour of the vox populi. That's got nothing to do with any football player's guidance lesson on personal or character issues. That's got nothing to do with anybody's personal or character issues. It's got to do with the role of government. Period.

I agree with your points. All political ideologies I am aware of make their points in moral terms. Liberalism is by no means the only one. But it is a political system....not a moral one. It simply argues its positions often times in moral terms.

Ideologies are an system belief. Nothing more. Political ideologies mimic traditional religions even to the point of orthodox, reform, or liberal. Truly....there is not much difference.
