Obama to cut $48 billion a year from the organizations sworn to protect the USA from foreign enemies.

Obama announces new, leaner military approach - The Washington Post

Using NERA Economic Consulting data, the Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI last month predicted that implementing the technologies needed to meet EPA’s proposed goal would cost the economy a staggering $1 trillion every year. A total of 7.3 million jobs would be lost along the way, adding 4.3 percent of the work force to the unemployment line by 2020.

Can the EPA protect us from nuclear fall out from Iran?

And and the military retirees benefits and medical care are going to be "reduced" whatever happened to "lets take care of our vets"?

it just gets dumber and dumber every day around here.

It appears that America is the ONLY country that thinks protecting the snail darter existence is MORE important then protecting the country that protects the snail darter.

That it is more important to spend TAX revenue protecting the environment (THAT enemies want to destroy) then protect the country and people and the tax base that pays the taxes
i.e. the businesses that generate jobs that generate revenue that generates TAXES!

My, you fellows are really full of shit. So you want this nation to have the same pollution controls as China. What a fine vision for this nation.

Do you understand the illogic of your statement?

If China with poorer standards takes over the USA because we have a diminished military capability BECAUSE we preferred to spend protecting the snail darter it will be a moot point because the conquering Chinese wouldn't CARE ...obviously!

Put another way which would you prefer:
Destroying the tax base from within while protecting the snail darter OR
Protecting the tax base and breath cleaner?

Because the lack of plain common sense, I.E. destroy 32 electric utility plants that are cleaning 90% of the emissions seems more important!

It is the polluting industry that is draining the money....... as always.

They operate without ethics and in fiance of regulations. Put the white collar polluters in jail as the only way to keep them from polluting.

Private industry is the problem!!!

Most of the money will go into "green energy" projects. In other words, the government will piss it down the sewer. Obama will dole out the funds to his political cronies. This is nothing more than crony capitalism on a vast scale.

What a total fucking retard drone. The USA already has pollution controls 100 times more strict than China's. Declining to approve Obama's boondoggle spending and regulation schemes doesn't mean our existing laws will evaporate.

Anytime someone opposes the latest environmental wacko boondoggle. turds like you resort to the same old hysterical abracadbra

Abolish:

EPA, USDo Ed. & Energy, Obamacre, This stupid new consumer agency... that's be a god start.

China provides medical care for their people. That is why USA industry goes abroad. CORP america has been screaming for single payer insurance for years.

China,Japan and Germany provide health care to their populations.

Private USA industry is still the polluting problem not the USA EPA!

Another misleading thread.

In real terms, there will not be real cuts in military spending. Paul Rand explains,,,,,

“The interesting thing is there will be no cuts in military spending. This may surprise some people, but there will be no cuts in military spending because we’re only cutting proposed increases. If we do nothing, military spending goes up 23 percent over 10 years,” he told host Candy Crowley. “If we sequester the money, it will still go up 16 percent. So spending is still rising under any of these plans. In fact, if you look at both alternatives, spending is still going up. We’re only cutting proposed increases in spending."
Rand Paul downplays impact of automatic cuts - Washington Times

Now I admit the EPA can sometimes go overboard, but the EPA isn't the evil monster that the far right portrays it to be.
If the far right had it's way there would be no EPA, no protection of our water, air or soil. Eliminating the EPA would be an act of a slow genocide for those who would die as the result of not sufficiently protecting the water we drink, the air we breath or the harvest of foods generated from the soil.
A good example is the fact that respiratory deaths are up and have been on the increase for 30 years, yet at the same time smoking has decreased dramatically. If it isn't smoking, what is it that is driving respiratory deaths in the US?
If you aren't effected by the effects of pollution still doesn't mean your aren't paying for it. Typically those who live in high pollution zones are the poor and middle class. These groups in a high percentage of cases don't have health care insurance or have a limited/high deductible plan. In a high percentage of those cases, those who have health care insurance end up paying the unpaid portion of the treatment cost through higher insurance rates.

When I see birth defects, I am so glad we have an EPA. When Republicans see birth defects, they see that business is doing well. Then they turn their backs on those poor children and insist helping them is "socialism".

what ya gonna replace private industry with communist creature?

We are way ahead of China in environmental protection & polutuion prevention. The cost of this is why we can't compete with them.

'Mountains' of rubbish hauled out of China's Three Gorges Dam

"The garbage was so thick in parts of the river that people could walk on the surface"

Seems like this would be the time to lean on them over environmental matters. It's also an on-point example of why the EPA SHOULDN'T be abolished.
