China has criticised the US space agency Nasa over its decision to bar Chinese scientists from attending a conference in the United States.

The meeting is a key event for scientists searching for planets beyond the solar system.

Nasa has rejected applications from Chinese nationals, citing a new security law.

In Beijing, foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying called the move "discriminatory".

where does it say that NASA conference can't ban whomever it wants?

I believe that its stated no where. But apparently, the US is super sensitive to Chinese competition lately.

Or maybe they don't want to risk having sensitive information stolen. God knows there have been hundreds (if not thousands) of cases in the last 20 years of Chinese nationals and Chinese-"Americans" stealing sensitive/classified info from multiple US companies and gov't agencies.

The Chinese have probably already stolen the powerpoint presentation anyways
