LOS ANGELES — Drinking glasses depicting comic book and movie characters such as Superman, Wonder Woman and the Tin Man from "The Wizard of Oz" exceed federal limits for lead in children's products by up to 1,000 times, according to laboratory testing commissioned by The Associated Press.

The decorative enamel on the superhero and Oz sets — made in China and purchased at a Warner Brothers Studios store in Burbank — contained between 16 percent and 30.2 percent lead. The federal limit on children's products is 0.03 percent.

Among the brands on those glasses: Coca-Cola, Walt Disney, Burger King and McDonald's.

In addition to the seven contaminated Oz and superhero glasses, 10 others raised concern over longer-term contact — two for both lead and cadmium, five for lead only and three for cadmium only. According to widely used computer modeling, the contamination that came off three of the glasses could measurably increase a child's blood lead level.

US Chamber of Commerce recently sponsored an event that instructed US firms how to outsource jobs to China alongside the "Chinese" branch of the American Chamber of Commerce, AmCham.

US Chamber of Commerce lobbyist moderated panel on outsourcing American jobs: report | Raw Story

The country's largest business lobby has pledged to spend $75 million in this year's elections. That's on top of a lobbying effort that already has cost the organization nearly $190 million since Barack Obama became president in January 2009.

The chamber has been a visible player in congressional debates, fighting Obama administration initiatives on health care, energy policy and some financial regulations. It has weighed in on Senate contests, spending more than $4 million so far in Massachusetts, Arkansas, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Ohio. It has endorsed Republican Senate candidates in Florida, California and Missouri. It plans another wave of ads around Labor Day.

Funny how these things work. It's almost kind of "circular". The COC gets money from "unknown" sources. That money goes to a certain political party. China ends up benefiting.

Hey, if any of you have those drinking glasses, get rid of them.

this is what happens when you make profit your main reason for doing anything.

"A dollar at any cost" is the mantra of a certain Political Party. We can see from the Patriot act, it's not that they care about government intrusion into your life, but government stopping you from making a dishonest buck.

McDonald's can't possibly afford to test for such things.

Can they be fined for peddling that crap?

Are these the same ones as before or new ones?

AND what are you thinking, dont get rid of them. Just don't drink out of them. They will be worth money to the McD's collectors.

I recall when gas stations used to give you free glasses for buying gas.
Check your tires, oil and clean your windshield all for .35/gal.

Now you pump it yourself and pay extra for air.
all for around $3.00/gal.

They'll keep buying Obama's shitty debt if we keep buying their shitty glassware.

Between 2001 and 2008, 2.4 million jobs were lost or displaced, including 91,400 in 2008 alone, despite a dramatic decline in total and bilateral U.S.-China trade deficits that began in the second half of that year

Unfair China Trade Costs Local Jobs

Obama has to deal with what he was given. Thank God he has received so much support from the right. Just kidding. I was making a joke. I know. They want him to fail. Waterloo you know. It's his policies. Saving car companies and millions of American jobs and bringing the economy back from the brink. Start treaty. Insuring children. Reigning in Wall Street. Not wanting to give tax breaks to millionaires. So many wrong things.
