Bad , Bad news for Vova Putler and his ' gas station masquerading as a country' , which of a gas station masquerading as a country goes down first? My guess it will be Muscovy, Nigeria is the next one , what do you think?

China’s green energy initiatives are going into the fast lane.

The country, long one of the top polluters in the world, announced it would be joining the United Kingdom and France in phasing out internal combustion engines. The country said it would ban production of gas-powered vehicles by 2040. Regulators of the ban are currently working on a timeline to reach the 2040 goal, according to reporting at Bloomberg.

If China adheres to the timeline, it would become the biggest market to go all-electric for cars. The move would push manufacturers to switch production entirely to no emission vehicles. In 2016, it was reported that Beijing had some of the worst smog conditions ever recorded forcing car rationing to be imposed."

Then they can burn even more coal to fire their electric plants and mine even more lead and lithium...and other raw materials. All every polluting.

They did not say they would ban the USE of all gas powered vehicles by 2040 they said they would ban the PRODUCTION of gas powered vehicles by 2040. That's a big difference. Also China has no choice because they are poisoning themselves with their abominable smog. I'm surprised they aren't dropping over dead in the streets.

China is now the world’s largest solar power producer

As it stands, solar energy represents only one percent of the country’s energy output. But this may soon change as China devotes more and more of its attention towards clean energy. The NEA says that China will seek to add more than 110 gigawatts within the next three years, which could help the nation up the proportion of its renewable energy use to 20 percent by 2030. Today, it stands at 11 percent.

China knows in another 20+ years, gas will be prohibitively expensive and electric cars will have made great strides. But, so far, a battery can't hold a match to a tank of gas.

And, even Commies are concerned with pollution.

Exactly...look no further than the imminent extinction of the tungsten filament bulb. Landfills are now packed with mercury laden bulbs. Though broken CFL bulbs only release between .04 and .7 mg of mercury...multiple that by a few hundred million.Cleaner air sure..but mercury in the water table is bad news. Going green quite often means trading one devil for another.

I love those cheap China solar panels. I put them on my motor home some years ago.

Battery tech is advancing at a great rate, and game-changing developments are happening all the time.
When they get Graphene super-capacitors online, the body panels will double as storage, and the IC engine will be an historical curiosity.

Graphene super-capacitors won't double as storage, at least not beyond something like storing energy from braking to help the car get going moments later. Electric cars are many years away from being competitive with traditional cars.

Cheaper Solar in India Prompts Rethink for Coal Projects
India’s coal-power plant developers are growing more pessimistic about their projects after a plunge in the cost of electricity from solar panels improved the economics of renewable energy.

After a string of federal auctions, solar is suddenly the cheapest source of electricity in India. That’s darkening the outlook for the coal-fired power industry as projects struggle to find customers or face cancellation amid a glut of capacity.
...Last month, companies including SoftBank Group Corp. of Japan and India’s Bharti Enterprises Pvt. offered to supply solar electricity for 2.44 rupees (3.8 U.S. cents) a kilowatt-hour, a price competitive with market rates and with power from coal plants.

When we pulled out of the Paris Accords, I remember a lot of people justifying it by saying no other country is going to DO anything about it. They just want money.
Well, we're not giving them money and China is doing MAJOR anythings. Good for them. I mean it.

Things are improving in China, but they still burn more coal than anyone.
