China is doing it right and the US is doing it wrong

Places that have nets outside their dorms and such to catch workers jumping is not a place I would want to work.

I work with Chinese companies all the time.. You are falling prey to distorted impressions of how and why that happens.

MOST of those factory workers are DISPLACED by choice so that they fund their families back home. THey work long shifts BY CHOICE so that they can get a vacation or break and GO HOME TO SEE their families. They are 100s of miles from home, the company PROVIDES their temp housing because they HAVE TO -- not because the company wants to inherit all the bad press from their personal or social problems.

It's much like the wonderful conditions at the WPA during the Depression..
Where guys HAD to travel 400 miles from home, camp out in a freaking TENT on a mountain pass in the Wintertime with a 55gal drum fire for heat. How depressed do you think THEY were?

LOTS of USMB posters think that was just peachy keen and that we should being it again.
Think all those suicides and deaths were any less the fault of their employer?

You'd work 7 days a week if it got you back to your sick family member sooner.
Don't criticize til you understand how desparate their situations were BEFORE China modernized...

I’m telling you now Cuba, Russia, and China have it right. I’m telling you it looks like America are going to go back toward capitalism and soon Democrats will be jumping on planes and boats to these utopias. You should start know to get ahead of the crowd and get there before it becomes too many and those countries start turning people away. I have friends down here in Miami that for a small price can get you to Cuba by boat if you have trouble getting a citizenship through legal channels. Democrats should hurry and beat the rush now while you can.

Actually -- a lot of stuff that China IS doing right -- like their build-out of 100s of nuclear power plants and the Laissez Faire policies that have exploded their middle class ranks.

GOING there for economic opportunity and freedom wouldn't be a totally bad deal. Going there for social freedom would be a bad deal.

Supposedly -- we don't have to choose between economic and social freedom. Or at least we didn't use to.. But as Mayor Bloomberg has demonstrated, there are more totalitarian regimes than the 3 you named..

We could do those things without being a communist country. The truth is those things could happen here in the free market if it were not for the environmentalist obstructing everything. They want none of that.

What are you talking about? Those Chinese jumping out the windows of apple factory were just so happy they live in such a great country. They love the fact they have all the freedoms they have. They are thankful that tens of thousands of residents will die when there is a flood.

Of course we also need to get the American middle class to accept 9000 dollars a year then we can have an economic boom like the Chinese boom as well. Good luck with that. American’s are complaining about making what they make now.

True patriots willing to sacrifice their very lives for their country's increased GDP.
Way to go!

I can get home without working 7 days a week. But I'm sure that is nothing to do with the work environment.

Sounds like a regular worker's paradise.

Are you thinking or just spouting?? To build their equivalent of Silicon Valley in ShenZhen, they needed literally MILLIONS of new workers.. Those workers showed up from up to 600 miles away... Companies HAD to build dorms and roads and infrastructure themselves to make this happen. It was migration that will sort itself in less than a generation..

AND -- it happened voluntarily and LARGELY without govt Top Down micromanagement.

Right now dufus -- 100,000 temporarily displaced AMERICAN WORKERS are flocking to North Dakota so that THEY can WORK and support their families back home.. And YES -- they want to work extra hours so they can build up vacation and break time and go see THEIR FAMILIES..

So WTF was that comment of yours?

BTW: I'm not a fan of their Political Regime.. But I do understand how grateful these folks are for Foreign Capital to volunteer to develop their country.. Their middle class didn't exist 20 years ago. And largely this confirms the importance of CAPITAL investment in job creation over Infrastructure Investment or Govt Stimulus.. China didn't hand out $100 bills to farmers in rice paddies to make this happen.. THEY don't have an exploding debt bomb.

They ALSO KNOW that cheap labor is NOT what's gonna sustain this success. But that's another story.. Cheap labor is just a passing fad...

You'll still be spouting that uninformed nonsense when THEY have your standard of living and you're the one doing subsistence farming and begging the govt for your next meal.

The right wingers should be in the first flights out to Iran and Saudi Arabia, makes you wonder why they haven't gone to their right wing utopias yet...

It is in fact, hard to think with your head up yer ass. Apparently it must be a case that you are aware that socialist country's don't want nor need you, they have enough troubles of their own. So I guess we are stuck with you because you don't have the guts to immigrate.

That comment was that it is better to be a worker in the US than in communist China. Heck our poor have more than their middle class. China does not care about its people. To them they are cattle and that is what the left want to bring here.
