The move by the Chinese authorities is the latest in a series of what are viewed as retaliatory acts against the planned deployment of a high-tech U.S. anti-missile defense system in Seoul, known as Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD).

China has slammed Seoul for deciding to install the THAAD battery on its own soil, claiming that it will undermine regional security in East Asia, as it is capable of spying on Beijing's military developments.

Seoul and Washington reached the agreement on THAAD in July last year, planning to complete the deployment as early as August.

Lotte, South Korea's retail giant, has been under fire since it handed over a plot of land it owned as a golf course to the government to be used as the site for the THAAD deployment.
China bans trip sales to Korea

Problems began last July, when Korea agreed to let the US deploy an antimissile defense system within its borders. The planned Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) shield will counter the growing military threat from North Korea. But China fears it could also be used against its own systems, and argues it will destabilize regional security. Since Beijing can’t force Seoul to renege on its agreement with the US, it’s gone the passive-aggressive route to hurt Korea in other ways.
China is making life hard for South Korea because of an antimissile system in over 40 petty ways

And they should fear it.

I'm sure China doesn't want to really harm South Korea.
This ban is just some kind of "intimidation" for the South-korean military equipment
I guess this ban will be repealed in a few months :)

China is being absurd. Would they prefer the ROK simply NOT take the needed steps to protect their citizenry? However dot dot dot the days of blanket support for their fellow Socialists in the DPRK is happily coming to a close. The political weight of that fat little man in the north is quickly becoming too much to bear.
