No, not 'normative sexual exploration or sex-play, but actual kidnapping, trafficking, hold them down and rape them stuff.

"HOKE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) --
Two teenage boys in Hoke County are facing sexual assault charges involving a minor.

"This is a very, very disturbing, very ugly situation we're dealing with right now," said Hoke County Sheriff Hubert Peterkin.

Deandre Spivey-McLean, 17, and JeSean McPhaul, 19, were arrested Wednesday following an investigation into allegations filed by a 14-year-old student at the Hoke County High School.

...

Both teens, who are from Raeford, have been charged with six counts of second-degree statutory sex offense of a 13, 14, 15 year old and first-degree kidnapping.

Spivey-McLean has also been charged with six counts of human trafficking and sexual servitude, along with one count of second-degree forcible rape, first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He is currently under a $400,000 bond.

McPhaul is also facing six counts of statutory rape of a 13, 14, 15-year-old charges. He is currently under a $250,000 bond."

Maybe it's time to stop infantilizing minors when they're capable of doing the sorts of things we imagine happening in the 3rd world and eastern Europe.

First of all, a 19 year old is not a child.

Second of all, neither is a 17 year old.

And yes, we need to stop " infantilizing minors".

Teens and certainly the 17yo are always called "children" in media. This is why the infantilization needs to stop. And the 17yo IS a child as far as the law is concerned. Odd considering you can enlist in the military at 17 as I myself did.

Amen to this. This reminds me of a Blue Bloods episode that was recently on TV. A cop on there had to shoot this 14 year old kid in beginning because the kid was about to shoot him first. Yeah the boy was still a kid, but he was old enough to know exactly what it was that he was doing and he did know.

God bless you always!!!

It is a gray area indeed. It is difficult to set an arbitrary age for adulthood and the responsibilities which go with it. It is also a very gray area to charge an older teen for statutory rape of a teen who has not reached the age of consent.

The infantilization needs to stop because it is a factor that artificially prevents maturation.

17 year olds have a lot more rights than 12 year olds. They can drive and get jobs, are allowed to consent to sex.

And enlist in the military.

When a young person has been charged with 6 counts of human trafficking, one count of forcible rape, first degree sexual exploitation, and third degree sexual exploitation, and is being held on a $400k bond, he's hardly been infantalized. These are the same charges and bail that any adult doing this stuff would receive.

Your false premise is duly noted.

Which is exactly why this young person received adult-level charges. See? No infantalization. They commit adult crimes, they receive adult penalties.

False premise debunked.

Society infantilizes minors. Not in this instance, nor was that implied.

Your imability to read at an adult level understanding inferences is also duly noted.

Psychology 101: People talk about what they like the most.

So if you know someone who consistently talks about gays for instance, even in a negative way - are in fact most likely dealing with their own sexual desires.
Someone who brings up pedophilia, or hebophilia..or something to do with child sexuality...alot...are most likely dealing with their own sexual desires.

14 is certainly old enough to be held accountable for the rape/molestation of a younger person. And no, its definitely NOT "boys will be boys".

Then why post this article and ignore the fact that it runs counter to your assertion?

Oh, wait...because you think that we should remove age of consent laws and stop infantalizing underage girls and boys to keep them from having sex with who knows who.

Your posts seem to follow a consistent them: Kids should be treated like adults, especially sexually.

Noted.
