Children of the Parkland Tragedy Vilified for Speaking Out and Condemned as Phonies

Here's how you handle these situations. All the teachers are armed, including several specials ops people. At the first shot, they unload more firepower on the guy than he can't get another shot off. In the meantime, creep a few guys up his flank and boom. Problem solved.

Question: Who would dare, who has the temerity, who has the viciousness in them to target distraught, children who survived a school shooting and are desperate for adults to stop the killing, with a smear campaign? Who is willing to join in the chorus of voices advancing the absurd claim that they, the student survivors of the Parkland massacre are puppets of larger, nefarious forces” and participants in a conspiracy.

The unifying principle of the right-wing smear campaign against the student survivors of the Parkland massacre is that they are puppets of larger, nefarious forces. The attacks first gained prominence on Monday on the pro-Trump blog Gateway Pundit which claimed, without any evidence, that student David Hogg was a pawn of the FBI and was “merely reciting a script” in media interviews. By Tuesday, as the initial attacks gained support from Donald Trump Jr. and a former congressman, Gateway Pundit escalated the attacks, suggesting. Hogg and other students were crisis actors recruited from the school’s theater department by far-left groups controlled by George Soros. Similar outlandish claims went viral on Facebook.

Even if these kids are being coached or encouraged in some way, even if they are networking as part of a larger movement- and I hope that they are-it’s no excuse for people who are supposed to be adults to vilify them. That is no different than what right-wingers do in order to advance their agenda They were even called un-American. What is more American than protesting and exercising one’s right to free speech?

This is a thinly vailed attempt to silence them. This is evidence that the right is running scared. Scared of these children who are livid and rising up. The NRA, Trump, and their lackeys may have well met their match.

The initial attack was even more despicable and vicious:

Students who survived the gun massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School have emerged as powerful advocates of gun control and fierce critics of the NRA. Now they are being targeted by a right-wing smear campaign.

David Hogg, a senior at the school, was one of the first to appear on national television and demand action. “We’re children. You guys are the adults. You need to take some action and play a role. Work together. Come over your politics and get something done,” Hogg said, looking directly into the camera.

Hogg is now being targeted by Gateway Pundit, a far-right blog that has press credentials from the Trump White House. A post published on Monday by the site’s White House correspondent, Lucian Wintrich, features Hogg’s photo with the word “EXPOSED” stamped in red.

The Gateway Pundit story is spreading quickly on Facebook and has already been picked up by One American News Network, another right-wing outlet with White House media credentials.

Conservatism has become a malignant cancer in this society. They have separated from normal everyday society themselves. I think it's time to let them go their own way and break up the country. These people want a distopia with a wall around it where they can practice their psychopathic paranoia on their own. All the rest of humanity would be better off if these people gathered themselves in the old south, built a yuuuuge wall around themselves, and never ventured out of the gate.
Well, son of a bitch. Now I know why you guys don't criticize Nikolas Cruz. Thanks for giving me the heads up. We certainly wouldn't wanna hurt ole cruz's self esteem eh Isaac.
You guys really don't have much of a track record of calling out what something is. You fit right in with this one.

Democrat scum have thrown out Christianity from public life in America while allowing Muslims to do whatever the fuck they want and even telling NASA to support Islam during Obama's presidency.

Just as idiotic is that conservatives think anyone would believe their ridiculous lies.

One of the kids was pissed that Trump Jr. was saying that they were actors, and took Melania to task for it. And, if the kids truly were "crisis actors", then why was a GOP aide fired for saying it?

Florida Student Calls Out First Lady - news - Suddenlink

Lauren Hogg tweeted that the first lady should have had a "convo" with Trump Jr. "before he liked a post about a false conspiracy theory, which in turn put a target on my back and created a safe space for people all over the world to call me and my family horrific things that constantly re-victimizes us and our community?" In a second tweet, she added that "I’m 14 I should never have had to deal with any of this and even though I thought it couldn’t get worse it has because of your family." (One GOP aide was fired over the "actors" theory.)

GOP Aide Fired for Calling Shooting Survivors 'Actors'

An aide to a Republican lawmaker in Florida was fired Tuesday for spreading a bizarre conspiracy theory about survivors of the Parkland school shooting. Benjamin Kelly, a staffer to state Rep. Shawn Harrison, used a government email account to email the Tampa Bay Times, claiming that two students filmed speaking out against gun violence were "not students here but actors that travel to various crisis when they happen." Asked to back up his claim, Kelly emailed back with a YouTube conspiracy video containing a news clip showing 17-year-old student David Hogg in California last summer. After he was contacted by a reporter, Harrison said Kelly would be suspended because of the "insensitive and inappropriate allegations."

Well, if you're looking for the USMB members that believe this tripe, you can start off with Blind Whore (MindWars). She's already started a thread saying that the kids are "crisis actors".

That being said, I think it is a bit hypocritical, as well as quite a bit sad. Didn't the conservatives say that kids are off limits during the election?

Guess they are off limits only when they agree with the conservative agenda. Speak out against it and get savaged by their attack dogs.

I would venture to guess this side of USMB has kids that are teens and they have no idea what they are doing at this moment or don't even care just as long as the parent doesn't have to interact with them.

Speaking of that, your Mom says to get off the computer and go to bed!

And your gripe is exactly why the left decided to go with children in making the argument, so that the adults who were tired of getting their behinds handed to them in these debates could have a rebuttal free charge leveled at their opponents, now they do not even have to take responsibility for their irresponsibility, just point at the kids they requite making the same arguments they have been so wrong about previously and say look how they pick on kids...I am sure you see the truth here so you may want to find a child if you want to dispute my point
That's EXACTLY why they use children. The shame factor. "How DARE you speak ill of the pooooor suffering chilllllldren". Spare me.
It's the right who has a history of using children in debates such as abortion, and same sex marriage .

Wow! It took you a long time to introduce your favorite hobby into the discussion on this thread.

Parkland survivor says thanks to online conspiracy theorists

"These people that have been attacking me on social media, they've been great advertisers. Ever since they started attacking me, my Twitter followers are now a quarter of a million people. People have continued to cover us in the media. They've done a great job of that, and for that, I honestly thank them," Hogg told CNN's Brian Stelter on "Reliable Sources" on Sunday.
aid the people attacking him online as a "crisis actor" who's been "coached" on anti-gun talking points are really just "great advertisers."

You might want to read your post and edit. You said the same thing twice!

Answer: (A partial list)

1) Fox News

2) Donald Trump Jr.

3) The Gateway Pundit

4) One America News Network

5) Rush Limbaugh

6) Alex Jones

My guess is that I will soon be adding USMB participants to this list

In yet another account of what is happening…

The teenagers of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., who a week ago lost 17 of their classmates and school staff members in a mass shooting, have emerged as passionate advocates for reform, speaking openly of their anger in the hope of forcing a reckoning on guns.

But in certain right-wing corners of the web — and, increasingly, from more mainstream voices like Rush Limbaugh and a commentator on CNN — the students are being portrayed not as grief-ridden survivors but as pawns and conspiracists intent on exploiting a tragedy to undermine the nation’s laws.

The theories are far-fetched. But they are finding a broad and prominent audience online. On Tuesday, the president’s son Donald J. Trump Jr. liked a pair of tweets that accused David Hogg, a 17-year-old who is among the most outspoken of the Parkland students, of criticizing the Trump administration in an effort to protect his father, whom Mr. Hogg has described as a retired F.B.I. agent.

This type of batshittery used to belong to fringe groups like the John Birch Society. Now it is mainstream conservatism. What self-respecting adult could even think of demonizing children that just witnessed 17 of their classmates murdered in front of them?

Conservatism has become a malignant cancer in this society. They have separated from normal everyday society themselves. I think it's time to let them go their own way and break up the country. These people want a distopia with a wall around it where they can practice their psychopathic paranoia on their own. All the rest of humanity would be better off if these people gathered themselves in the old south, built a yuuuuge wall around themselves, and never ventured out of the gate.
The kids from Parkland all belong to the John Birch Society.
There all my brothers
