Childless by choice

public schools should be ran by the communities not the feds

with certain federal standards.

I want everyone learning the same language.

and I don't want northern yankee public schools teaching their kids that confederates are the enemy of America.

The same language
the same history
the same citizenship
no religion
as long as the constitution allows it,,,which it doesnt

and confederates were the enemy of the USA,,to say otherwise is a lie

"and confederates were the enemy of the USA,,to say otherwise is a lie"

Absolutely!

I just meant that I don't want the north (or the south) to teach school children to hate the south (or the north)

I've been down south for long periods....

They let you know they still haven't forgiven us for losing the civil war.

I want the kid in Alabama to want to be friends with the kid in New York, not his enemy.

forced education from a fed is not the answer,,,and the constitution clearly states NO authority

so....any area can teach its own language?
its own history?

why is it you guys always go to the most extreme case for a simple conversation???

I know numerous people who have, at some point in their life, made the decision not to have children. Every one of them has had people give them grief over their choice.

What the hell is wrong with people? Why do they think they have a say in the matter?

Being from a abusive family I made the choice not to breed. It was a hard one but the correct decision in my life.

If I could not provide a stable home with the love that is needed there was no need to bring a child into this world.

Those that believe people should breed just to breed need to ask how many more unwanted kids should society make?

That’s not up to you. It’s that whole “freedom” thing...

"That’s not up to you. It’s that whole “freedom” thing"

who is it up to?

Should freedom mean that the south can teach its children to keep waging war on the north?

should freedom mean that muslim areas of the US get to teach their children to hate christian areas?

or vice versa?

all thats covered in the constitution

Public education is a socialist program.
Yep. Perfect example of a failed socialist program.

I imagine improving public education wouldn't appeal to you?

so we are left with ....religious schools? where muslims can teach the children to hate christians?

sorry but I prefer public education with NO RELIGIOUS AGENDA that stresses citizenship over religion.

The fact that so many conservatives proudly proclaim that they are
christians first
conservatives second
republicans third

without even bothering to put PATRIOTISM on the list .....is worrying......

and UNpatriotic.

I disagree with all of that. What part of "all rights are reserved for the states" do you not understand? The Federal government has zero constitutional right to dictate to the people of a state, how their state is run.

All rights..... ALL rights.... are reserved for the state.

See you people keep claiming Trump is the Nazi dictator, and then you turn right around and justify your own dictating to people how they live.

If California wishes to teach all their students Spanish, that's on California.

What's pathetic, is that even Canada understands our constitution better than we do. You don't see Canada saying that all provinces must teach exclusively English, do you? Because Quebec to this day teaches French, and many people don't speak English there.

Now if I was in that state, I would push to keep English as the primary language. It's better for everyone of that state.

But ALL RIGHTS RESERVED FOR THE STATES... means just that.

"I disagree with all of that."

Of course you do.

" What part of "all rights are reserved for the states" do you not understand? "

The part that excluded ALL rights from the people.

"The Federal government has zero constitutional right to dictate to the people of a state, how their state is run."

according to your understanding of the constitution?

"All rights..... ALL rights.... are reserved for the state."

I get it.

You can stop saying it.

"See you people keep claiming Trump is the Nazi dictator, and then you turn right around and justify your own dictating to people how they live."

1. i don't consider him to be a nazi dictator.
I consider him to be a bit of a buffoon with a lot of nazy sympathising followers.

2. I am not stunned (as I've seen it before) that you spun my words
"one language
one history"

into "dictating to people how to live"

And I find it even more amusing in regards to the conservative demand that all immigrants speak English!

If you believe each state has a right to teach its own language how many languages must an immigrant learn to come to America?

Certainly if each state has its own language it would have a deleterious affect on interstate commerce.....

"If California wishes to teach all their students Spanish, that's on California."

Exacerbating the problem......How liberal of you.

I can see you are fired up about this and should I continue to argue with you you will no doubt just get even more angry.

So I will leave you with this;

all American public schools should teach ONE language, ONE history, ONE culture, ONE constitution.

I don't 'demand' anything. If they want to come here, I do believe that speaking English should be a requirement, because without knowing the language it is extremely difficult for an immigrant to do well in this country.

That should be a requirement for entering the country. And entry into the country, is something that falls under the authority of the Federal Government.

What schools teach in a state, is up to that state. Again, if you live in X state, and you wish X state to teach English, that is up to you and the citizens of X state to decide. But this is how every dictator starts off. They start off by making what they consider reasonable demands to remove freedoms from the people. But the moment you find a rationalization to remove one freedom, someone else will use that same rationalization to remove another freedom, and another, until you end up with Venezuela, and the military is deployed in the cities, to enforce food rations.

Venezuela didn't get that way, over night. It happened over two decades of eroding the freedoms of the people, until it's a concentration camp.

"If California wishes to teach all their students Spanish, that's on California."
Exacerbating the problem......How liberal of you.
Again, that's on California. I am not a dictator that says I, or the rest of America, has a right to dictate how California runs their schools.
And their problem, is their problem. If they choose to exacerbate their problem, that's their choice. Why do you think that you have a right to demand how they run their state?

Ironically, I know someone that had the exact same problem you said, but had the exact opposite reaction. He stated directly that he was intentionally going to find a wife, get married, and have kids.... specifically because he wanted to provide a home he never had.

And so far he has done just that. They have been married for about a decade now, and have two kids.

That said, I don't see anyone pushing people to pop out kids they don't want. I'm not sure where this is coming from. Who is supposedly doing this? I've never seen anyone advocate this.

Because..... as I said before..... All rights are reserved for the state. If your state wants every school in that state to teach German, then that is up to that state.

You live in a state, correct? You vote for the people who run that state, correct? Then if you want that law for your state, then vote accordingly.

I understand that you obsessed with one small part of the constitution but I am much more interested in logic and reason than a document that is CONSTANTLY misinterpreted and reinterpreted by different people with different agenda.
That's part of why it works. We do have people with different agendas. That's why it is important to have states rights, over Federal rights. When you force everyone with the gun of the Federal Government, you end up destroying yourself. Again, Venezuela is a perfect example.

Part of what binds the States together in the "United States" is the reservation of power to those states.
The constitution was a contract formed on the basis that we did not trample the freedoms of the states. This is why as the Federal government grows larger, and usurps more of the rights of the states, you hear more and more people calling to secede from the Union, or to call a constitutional convention. By having the Federal government violate the constitution, you are breaking the social contract between the union and the states.

I know numerous people who have, at some point in their life, made the decision not to have children. Every one of them has had people give them grief over their choice.

What the hell is wrong with people? Why do they think they have a say in the matter?

I am not sure what you mean by grief, but I certainly know childless adults who feel that they have to explain their decision. Nobody really asks "Why did you have kids" so much as "Why didn't/haven't you had kids". My little sister loathes children and has since she was a child. I am fairly certain she has never even held a real baby. Whenever people asks if she wants to hold a baby, she is, "Nope. I don't do the baby thing." So far, she has managed to never get pregnant. She has zero patience with kids.

My niece has indicated that she's not enthusiastic about kids, definitely doesn't want any for quite a while, and at most MIGHT want to have one. Or not.

I'm a little taken aback by the number of non-family members who feel compelled to condescendingly inform her, "Oh, you'll change your mind. Just you wait . . . but not too long, 'cause your clock is ticking." Or some variation to that effect.

It is family members too with ours. We warn people. Some obey, some do not. First time you get a polite dismissal. Keep pushing and next time you get a snappy response. Keep pushing for a third bite and she will inventory your ass in a heartbeat. I suspect that is why she always dates older men--men who have either already had their kids or were settled on not having them at all. She never even played with toy baby dolls as a kid. My mom always said she knew by the time she was 3 there would be no grandchildren out of that one. A guy I know via work encountered her at his work and his response was, "Man, your sister will never be giving you any nieces or nephews. That is for sure." I laughed and apologized for not warning him not to discuss baby having with her. He is all about kids and tried to chit chat her about it and went for bite #3.

Family's one thing. But these were NON-relatives. Not the first time I've heard people make remarks like that to someone, and I'll be damned if I know why anyone thinks that's not rude.

Here is the reality and it is most children from abusive homes usually keep the abuse going.

So lecture someone else because you have no right to tell me that I should or should not breed, it is a personal choice and never yours and if you think it is well it is not!

Young couples are deciding they want to travel and have nice things versus having kids....not all but a growing number. If this trend continues it won't be a bad thing in any way. And if the trend reverses that's good too. No longer should procreating be any kind of expectation. It's a choice, and one not to be taken lightly.

You are acting childish now. When did I ever say you should, or should not breed? Clearly choosing not to, and not spawning more childish adults like you, are a good thing.

I only had 1 child, 1 is all I can afford. I just wrote the last check for the final semester in college at the beginning of the semester. Victory!

They don’t have a say in the matter and the busybodies should mind their own business.
The kind of people that usually decide to have kids, are the ones I think that should not have kids.

I applaud their choice.
