Child Caregiver Faces Porn Charges

An El Cajon man, paid to care for children, faces child porn charges.
Corey Loftin, 22, was arrested Friday after officers swarmed his El Cajon home.
A neighbor said officers surrounded the property where Loftin lives with his mother. They had rifles drawn and searched the home, carrying out several items the neighbor said.
A criminal complaint alleges starting in November 2009 until last month Loftin received images of young girls engaged in lewd conduct. Several times, Loftin chatted online with a man in Pennsylvania and, according to court documents, the man sent Loftin live images as he molested the girls.
One woman who didn't want to be identified worked with Loftin at Children's Choice in El Cajon, where he was fulfilling his student teaching requirements.
He's a very good guy, the woman told NBCSanDiego. He is very quiet and very good with the kids.
I am very surprised I cant imagine something like that about him, she said.
A spokesperson from Children's Choice says Loftin was never left alone with students because he was there to observe teachers.
Loftin also worked at the Cuyamaca College Child Development Center for a year. A spokesperson said they had performed a background check on Loftin and he was clear to work there.
He also advertised his baby-sitting and tutoring services on a website called Sitter City officials said.
Neighbor Kim McGaha said she feels uneasy about the news that her neighbor faces child porn charges.
You just never know who is watching your children, she said.
Loftin is scheduled to be back in court Thursday.
