Chicago teacher's union wants a 30% pay raise

" extending the school day from 5.5 hours --among the nation’s shortest school days—to 7.5 hours "

You really are ridiculous.

Yes - they are extending the children's 5.5 hour school day to 7.5 hours.

We're talking about the teachers here. It might shock you to know there isn't a magical fairy that comes along and grades all the tests, homework, and prepares the lesson plans, for upwards of 200 students - they actually have to do that themselves. Now that you've been informed of what anyone who has ever known a teacher already knows, if you continue with your ridiculous line of reasoning, you're guilty of intentional stupidity rather than mere ignorance.

It turns out to results in 11 hour workdays
(see link in my post before this one, directly above)

Now they are being asked to extend that day for no extra pay.

You are so full of crap it's unbelievable. This is from my link in the OP:

" Chicago Public Schools states that under the extended school day:

On average teachers will provide 5.5 hours of instruction (an increase of 54 minutes), receive a 45-minute duty-free lunch and 60-minute prep period and supervise the passing period. They will also be required to be on-site for 10 minutes before and after school. "

You honestly think they get all the tests and homework graded for all their students in all their classes during a 60 minute prep period?

wow.

Seriously, are you some kind of moron?

Never said that dipshit, and you know it. I don't think an extra 54 fuckin' minutes is that big a deal. Tell me, do you work in the Chicago School System? I highly doubt it. I'd wager there's a lot of other school districts across the country who don't have a deal this sweet, AFTER the extension.

BTW, don't they have teaching assistants to do the paperwork? Did when I went to school.

Course not, you think people you despise should have to work more time for free just because you despise them.

makes sense.

Right that's why people are flocking to Chicago to teach.

Jesus fucking Christ you are dumb.

Did when I went to school.

well hell, I guess if they had them at YOUR school, and since all schools are just like yours and everyone's life is exactly like yours, you must be right! I can tell you've never taught and do not know any teachers well. I guess my Aunt's teaching assistant must have been sick the entire 30 years she taught.

Tell you what, why don't YOU go tell your boss you'll work an extra 54 minutes a day for free?

Ooh is a dumbass, I've already exposed him in this thread and in others. I ride him like a gay pornstar. He just loves a beating.

Oh Oooh you silly thing you. All you have to say is unions are causing more work for teachers because they WANT layoffs and not changes to benefits, and I'd stop riding you like a pony.
