"The Chicago Teachers Union issued a 10-day strike notice Wednesday, saying teachers in the nation's third-largest school district are ready to walk off the job for the first time in 25 years," reports AP.

Good! Let those useless bums walk off the job. Chicago education is a JOKE and the union teachers clearly care more about their own greed than the children. In this economy, lets see them go out into the real world and try to compete

From the AP article on the strike:

The school district has offered teachers a four-year contract with raises of 2 percent a year, which school board spokeswoman Becky Carroll said would cost $160 million. Lewis has repeatedly said the raise offered by the board is not acceptable.

My goodness, what a sense of entitlement! Anybody else out there in the real world getting AUTOMATIC pay increases regardless of results?

Considering what a failure the Chicago public school system is, the kids are probably better off not being there anyway.

The Chicago school system is one of the more corrupt in the nation...right up there with New Jersey.
I read an article awhile back that stated Chicago's "rubber rooms" were costing the Chicago system $360,000 a week...a WEEK!! (where failed teachers sit in a room 8 hours a day and get paid instead of getting fired)
