He sounds like a Democrat. Moaning about corporations, oil profits, tax cuts for the rich, and the widening income gap. In the speech he supports fair employment practices, the federal school lunch program, Social Security, and labor unions.

As for the high inflation Reagan was complaining about, that was a deliberate policy. You see, after WWII we had a higher debt-to-GDP ratio then than we have now. Most people are unaware of this. They want you to believe it has never been higher than it is now.

There are a handful of ways to reduce sovereign debt, and inflation is the weapon used most frequently.

The others are economic growth, higher taxes, renegotiating interest payments with creditors, and default.

America used higher taxes, economic growth, and inflation to reduce our debt during the ten year period following the war.

1947 was a particularly bad year of inflation.
