Charlie Rangel wants draft reinstated.

Like my son has said, he'd rather have someone fighting next to him that WANTS to be there and not someone forced to be. My husband joined the Marines in 1970, went to Viet Nam and he said you knew who you could count on and who you couldn't. Anyone forced to do something they don't want to do is not going to do their job to the fullest. Unless a World War broke out and we HAD TO have more military, then no, they need to leave it alone!

Why do we need a draft? There are people lined up for miles trying to get in, both officer and enlisted. The services can take their pick from the best of the best. Plus, we are in a drawdown. As usual, Rangel proves that he is a kook.

Not really news and Rep Frontbutt needs to just give this dog up. It's just not going to happen unless maybe there's some major World War like another poster pointed out, and even then it's no guarantee. Cross that bridge if we get there. At that point it would just be fishing for cannon-fodder. With the way world politics are now it's hard to think of a realistic situation where the US military has to pluck kids off the couch in order to combat an opposing army.

Not unless we intend on having permanent, profitable war. There is another thread about Newt possibly choosing Bolton for Sec of state, if that is the direction that republicans would lead our foreign policy then there is a point where we will have to have it just to be able to feed the MIC a steady diet of blood money.

Rangel:

What do U think???

It would certainly level the playing field between the "haves" and have nots"...

Why don't you stop crying about the field and play the damn game. Everyone has their hills to climb....EVERYONE! If you force people into the military you get a military full of people that do not want to be there....how is that a good thing. If Rangle was an honest man he would turn his fat ass in for tax evation. He won't because he is dishonest and you listen to what he says....Wow.
