Charles Krauthammer is a pretty good example of what has gone wrong with conservatism. (IMHO)
In the heydey of Conservatism, cerebral giants like Irving Kristol and William F. Buckley, jr., were laying the intellectual foundation for the conservative revolution.

Today, there is no one to fill those shoes. Charles Krauthammer doesn't have nearly enough scholarly heft to carry that load. The fact that he is about the best they have to offer, is a sad testament to the demise of intellectual conservatism.

Without that foundation... without an intelligent proponent who can make the logical and learned case for conservative policy, the current apologists are being buried in piles of derisive laughter.
