Chaos to Our South

We see and hear lots of carping by politicians about the flood of people crossing out borders from the south. Many make noises about Mexico but the majority of people fleeing places like Honduras (the highest murder rate in the world) and El Salvador.

An estimated 58 El Salvadorian police officers have been killed in the first 11 months of 2015 with over 400 attacks against them. And a lot of gangs are getting help from former members of the national army.

And, to make matters worse, it appears there are rumors of the two biggest gangs joining to make one! If they can overcome their long held differences. When that happens, will the government be able to survive?

It is really a mess in some of those countries.

Sadly- and this is where we get weird unintended consequences- a lot of the gangs started with members here in the U.S., who were in prison here- and much like radical Islamists in prison in the ME- got organized in prison- and then were deported back to their native countries- bringing with them radical organized crime.

I don't have an answer to the problem- but some of those countries are on the verge of collapse because of the gangs. And the answers that have 'worked' in the past have been as bad- right wing or left wing dictators with squads 'disappearing' criminals and dissidents alike.
