Perhaps the killers had given him a big meal of grits and chitlin before they hung 'im and they wanted to make sure whoever found him knew he had been FED.

I don't think the majority are saying that.

They are saying that there is rural criminal element that is just as dangerous as their urban counterparts.

Denying that there are rural pot growers or meth manufacturers won't make them go away, any more than denying there are gangbangers and crack houses in the urban areas will cause them to cease to exist.
