Ok, so on a messageboard that has a flamezone with minimal rules -->

We operate under the guise on anonymnity. Our user handles are anonymous.

As such, flaming has been allowed. The characters of each anonymous userhandle are allowed to be degraded to the point of other, more egregious posters, getting joy out of someone "melting down."

And this is all protected, because of said anonymnity and also the other user's ability to ignore it freely and go about their day.

Some examples of the flame zone of character defamation are such things as calling people thugs, the n wrd, the c word, racist, nazi, creep, stalker....accusing posters of having 100's of abortions....and even IN DEPTH discussion of other posters' vaginas.


This is all protected by an anonymous, privacy protected user handle.






And so is being called a pedophile.


The rules do not align with themselves, they are hypocritical by their very nature in my opinion.

Hopefully, we can debate them.

Ultimately most flames are boring. When they are used to sink otherwise interesting threads under a load of vitriol, they do a disservice to the online community. Each forum has to decide if it wants to go to the trouble of policing itself enough to keep good discussions going. If not, posters can always not come back. Enough mindless flames and eventually the forum dies. "So let it be with Ceasar".
