CBO: Income Of The Top 1 Percent Exploded Over The Last Three Decades | ThinkProgress

CBO: Income Of The Top 1 Percent Exploded Over The Last Three Decades | The Congressional Budget Office today released a new report on the growth in income that’s occurred in the U.S. over the last three decades. CBO found that, “for the 1 percent of the population with the highest income, average real after-tax household income grew by 275 percent between 1979 and 2007,” while it grew by just 18 percent for the bottom 20 percent of the income scale. “As a result of that uneven income growth, the distribution of after-tax household income in the United States was substantially more unequal in 2007 than in 1979,” CBO said.

How did the kings of europe develop?

Through concentration of wealth.

Through concentration of wealth.

The RW's think that an american aristocracy is just fine. No matter that the last time there was a concentration of wealth of this extreme and duration was during the Great Depression. :eusa_eh: :clap2:

Tearing down people who have succeeded won't make you less of a failure

If you feel bad about your life, that's the work you need to do, fix yourself, stop hating

speaking outr against a trend that will KILL our democracy is not hate.

What you traffic in is HATE.

Hate of our democratic system.

The founders stood up against concentrated wealth when they fought the kings and queens of europe.

How many of the top 1% in 1979 were still in the top 1% in 2007?

Deregulation has lead to the killing of democracy.

You can not have a healthy democracy without a vibrant middle class.

That's more incentive to strive to be in the top 1 percent.

I will make it there oneday!

The founders stood up against concentrated wealth when they fought the kings and queens of europe.

No, they did not.

was Thomas Jefferson a founding father?
To take from one, because it is thought his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, the guarantee to everyone the free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it.” — Thomas Jefferson, letter to Joseph Milligan, April 6, 1816
“A wise and frugal government… shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government.” — Thomas Jefferson, First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1801

was John Adams a founding father?
The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence. If ‘Thou shalt not covet’ and ‘Thou shalt not steal’ were not commandments of Heaven, they must be made inviolable precepts in every society before it can be civilized or made free.” — John Adams, A Defense of the Constitutions of Government of the United States of America, 1787

We all know they spoke out against Robbery. TM sadly will ignore this because it doesn't fit her world view. I wish with all my heart she would actually study what the Founders said.

I think she somehow thinks that these figure will somehow justify the legalized Robbery she wants to engage in.
