CBO: Health overhaul law potentially costs $115B more

YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH

That's all? I figured it would end up being a lot more expensive than that.

If Pelosi and Reid gave the CBO information that included something like "the healthcare law will result in Jesus coming to earth and giving the US government 3 trillion dollars"....the CBO would have had to incorporate an extra 3 trillion dollars of revenue into the formula.

Just so happens, the news media decided that little tidbit of information, and how the CBO comes up with their numbers was not necessary for the American people to know about.

It doesn't include the Doc Fix, will which add close to 1/4 Billion to the deficit.

Imagine that! A Government plan/bill/etc... that costs more than what they said it would... I'm shocked...

Health overhaul law potentially costs $115B more
The CBO estimate is a trillion spread over 10 years or 100 billion a year if the congress approves all additional healthcare spending in the legislation. You didn't mention that 115 billion is also spread over 10 years which 11.5 billion a year.

We wouldn't want to have any distortion here would we?

Do you possibly have a point?

The Obama Administration sold this farce on 10 Year Projections - which are being proven false quite rapidly.

Deal with it.

They are going to need to add many many more zero's to that number and before it's all said and done and when it is, we will look like the twin country of Greece.:cuckoo::cuckoo:

" The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money." Margaret Thatcher. Greece and Europe should have read that statement and Obama needs to read it and absorb it also.:cuckoo:

10 year projections??? Keep drinking your koolaid, he had to do it over a ten year projection, it's a numbers game, you are paying for 6 years of benefits on a 10 year plan. :cuckoo: It's like buying the house now, putting down your 20%, paying the monthly mortgage now for the next 48 months, then getting to move in, and you don't even get to rent it to recover your losses. :cuckoo::cuckoo:

Medicare was estimated to cost 1/10 of what it does today.:cuckoo: The government has bankrupted everything else, I guess they can bankrupt healthcare too. :cuckoo:

Well, the UK has a new Prime Minister and some in the Labor Party have agreed to give over a few seats to give the Conservatives a majority - or something like that - I don't know how British government works. But I was listening to this guy speaking outside #10 Downing St. in terms of wanting to bring about some changes - and that the citizens need to stop thinking about what they are entitled to and asking what can they do to help work together. We'll see.

The problem is Obama hasn't spent enough time explaining this program to the American people. But once they see the benefits for themselves they will flock to the polls in November to vote Dem.

" Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." John Kennedy-- I think the liberals and the socialist Obama have forgotten that statement and it was from a DEMOCRAT. Of course, that was from an old Democrat before the party was hi-jacked by the liberal left wing, nit wit, loons.:lol:

And that mere 11.5 billion a year put it over the cap that the President promised he would not sign it if it does.

We wouldnt want to leave that little tidbit out here would we.

Oh yeah, and that 11.5 billion a year? I wonder how many winter coats that would buy. Schoolbooks. Defribrilators for high school athletic departments.....and yes, I can most certainly go on.

Gee............an American Health Care Delivery System actually costs money! Who'd a thunk it?

What is it with the majority of us that thinks we can have any itty bitty thing our little heart desires and we never, ever have to worry about what it costs, and we certainly shouldn't even consider how we might pay for it?

Where, except in our convoluted political system, does that make a lick of sense?

As much as it hurts to hear the truth.........here it is. The health care reform that were recently passed was merely a first step. Now, that first step is far, far better than No Step, but if it is all we do, then we're all screwed as a country.

Just to mention a couple of things that we're going to have to face like real grownups...........Medicare and Medicaid. Unless we face up to it, we're going to make what is happening in Greece look like a walk in the park!

And, we ain't gonna solve the problem with little catch phrases like "I want smaller government," or "Don't even think about paying for the solution," or "I'll only vote for someone who will Just Say No!"

The sad truth is the only solution to the problem lies with that government we all love to hate. It will either be solved in the Halls of Congress..........or,it won't. If we ever get serious and really work on a solution, it will only come with pain...............we're going to have to both ante up a great deal of money, and we're going to have to accept some cuts in service.

We can listen to all our favorite radio comedians tell us how to think, but they have no interest in any solution to any problem we're facing. We're either going to grow up, accept responsibility for our past mistakes, start working on solutions, and be willing to sacrifice what it'll costs to pass a working government along to our children.....................or not!

This is a very bad time to be adding to any social program that increases the deficit. We are going to have serious problems in the future with government liabilities. Adding to our debt is a huge mistake.

If we should decide to act as if we were real grownups and pay for what we have to do, then it won't "increase the deficit," or "Add to our debt."

On the other hand, if we continue doing what we've done for the past 30 years, and keep on delivering services while passing the bill along to our children, then we need only look at Greece to see what the future holds for us.
