Apparently right at this moment Roman Polanski is enjoying his life in his Swiss chalet, possibly partly payed by German tax payers as indications are this millionaire derived tax support for his filming. Not bad for a country whose utterly corrupt politicians, if they don't get engaged with hunting down Scientologists, Communists, and what have you, give you 5 years in jail for doubting, some years in jail if you are accused of saying someone's grand mother, now dead, picked her nose while in church, and all other such worthy crimes its humbug politicians can invent. But what about Polanski himself? How could he have gotten away with this right in front of Interpol, Germany's Secret Police and ever concerned politicians to make sure we believe the ''right thing?'' Is this a civilized nation or a nation run by Barbarians? Is this why its politicians loved and cared for Polanski so much?

In the cases where a crime is committed by one person upon another?

The victim HAS TO press charges, otherwise, they let them go.

They don't technically HAVE to press charges- They just are needed as witnesses, so they are told that signing the complaint form will give the State Attorney's office discretion. It is State v. Whomever, in any case.. at least that was my general understanding of it. When I pressed charges against the ex boyfriend (and signed)and volunteered to testify, it was still State vs. Him, as well as the time I pressed charges for my ex husband (and did not sign), I was told it would be State vs Him, but they needed me to be a witness, and strongly encouraged that I testify against him. That was the only difference I have ever noticed. Those were not rape cases, but I don't see the difference.

Besides, the CURRENT charges are not rape, anyways. The current charges are ones that did not at all involve the victim- only involved his failure to appear, and leaving the country. I don't think that the victim has much say at all, with concern for the current charges..
And I believe that the state attorneys office can petition the judge to drop the original charges, if the victim asks for the charges to be dropped, but that is another tiered procedure, with no absolutions. The state attorneys can always decide not to motion with the court (the judge) to drop the original charges, because they are acting on behalf of the people as a whole, not just one victim. Statutes are in place so that if one person is injured by a violation, then the whole community is considered to have suffered, or put at risk of suffering. Because of this, the state attorneys reserve the right to make a sound judgment call on whether to even request to the judge that the charges be dropped, and even then, it is still up to the judge, ultimately.
Furthermore, in this particular case, dropping the original charges would annihilate any additional charges that Mr Polanski would have been tried with, because the additional charges are all based on his not appearing and fleeing accountability for the original charges, in the first place.

The former charge of rape is not necessary for them to convict, for them to get a conviction on the latter charges of fleeing the country, etc. So, I don't think that they will opt to drop any of the charges- They see Mr Polanski as a man who has shown them through his actions that he thinks he is above the law, and so, they apparently want to get a conviction- any conviction that can.

It seems probable that Polanski had been tipped off that they were after him, and this time meant it serious, if not by Interpol and the German police itself, then by political insiders. Hearing this he realized he had to do something, and he did what so far every person with such crime and such religious connection has done: Either claim you was inside Auschwitz Camp, had parents who were there, and make sure to head for it if your case doesn't fit into the ones above. So, it was no coincidence when Polanski went to Poland to visit Auschwitz and make himself out as the persecuted victim. It is a known fact, that in Europe if you rape someone, let's say a l2 years old girl, the judge(s) will dismiss the case if you say you are Jewish and you have been inside the Auschwitz Camp. And you need not prove that you ever was inside it! Nor do you need to prove you are so called ''Jewish.'' All you need to say, is, that your were there. Polanski was of course well aware of this and so he did what all the rest have done, be that accused War Criminals or rapists: head for Auschwitz. Get some photos done while there, and the media will immediately make you out as the victim and not the perpetrator. And we also can be sure of one thing: German politicians will do everything behind the scene to get him off as much as is possible. And they will do everything they can to stop any investigator who wants to find out if Roman Polanski, the millionaire, has indeed been given tax subsidies for his filming by the German tax payers, without the general public of course, knowing it.

For those who are optimistic and want Roman Polanski jailed should consider the following: There is not, as far as is known, one case on record where a person claimed to have some connection with Auschwitz, or claiming to be ''Jewish'' sentenced anything more than a symbolic sentence. There are all reasons to believe this will happen here again, as the Doctrine of ALL MEN ARE EQUAL BUT SOME ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS, hold fast. And the whole thing of letting so called ''Jews'' get off the hook may have started on July 21, 1973, when Ahmed Bouchiki, got assassinated at Lillehammer in Norway by MOSSAD. The film director was arrested in September after nearly 32 years in self-imposed exile from the United States following his conviction for having sex with a 13-year-old girl.
