Catholic Church sex abuse scandal caused by gay priests

maybe the sin is Celibacy - as advocated by the Catholic Church - by their choice of the Bible rather than simple truths and God.
This definitely attracts freaks. They need to drop that requirement. You should only be a priest if you are married with kids

And how is is catholic priest pedophiles isn’t even news anymore?

Are you aware that this story dates back to 1947? That it includes information that "finally" a couple of decades ago, the Church made some big changes? Changes so great that now other agencies follow the Catholic model of protecting children and reporting abuse? And, if a priest is discovered molesting anyone, Church policy is to report him to both law enforcement and all congregations in the diocese?

I understand. But I also understand that the media is choosing to focus on events of fifty years ago while glossing over the changes in the past twenty. This is not to excuse what happened fifty years ago, far from it. I am only pointing out there is an important part of the story the media is leaving out.

Years ago, when the media elected to shine a light on child abuse, they chose to focus on the Catholic Church. The part they left out then was that school districts had more incidents than any church--and schools, too, solved the problem by keeping quiet and moving teachers around. It is how society, even the psychological community at the time, recommended resolution: Send offenders to a seminar and then change their location. A little known fact is way back the Catholic Church was telling the psychologists their seminars did not work, did not work, did not work. It wasn't for years that psychologists admitted that there seems to be no cure for pedophilia.

Then the man fails to understand the nature of the scandal. The abuse was bad, but the scandal was that the church leadership covered it up, protected the priests by sending them to other parishes and basically placed the welfare of the church above the welfare of the people it was supposed to be serving.
It was actually both. They should have never covered it up.

Over 5 years later and new revelations are coming out. Now it’s thousands of people molested. Think about how hooked people are to their religions they were born into. So obvious the Catholic Church is unholy. And they were the first. Maybe that should tell people the entire religion of Christianity might be made up by unholy gentiles who invented a spinoff of jeodaoism. Very easy to join. Believe and dunk.

There were about 200 priests that were pedophiles. They are in jail. The rest were homosexual encounters. The peak of the "scandal" was from the 50's to the 60's and ended in the 80's. That's why it isn't in the news.

The "real number" of abused children might be in the thousands since some secret church records were lost, and victims were afraid to come forward, the grand jury said.

"Priests were raping little boys and girls, and the men of God who were responsible for them not only did nothing. They hid it all," Attorney General Josh Shapiro said at a news conference in Harrisburg.
Read the John Jay report.

This is unforgivable. It's amazing there are any catholics left. Who the fuck would belong to this perverted cult?

For decades, stories about clerical sexual abuse committed by Pennsylvania Catholic priests were reportedly locked away in the church’s secret archives.

These old secrets exploded into the light Tuesday with the publication of a grand jury report into six of Pennsylvania’s eight Roman Catholic dioceses.

The jurors’ 884-page report allowed Pennsylvania Catholics to finally grasp the extent of the abuse ― and cover-up ― in six dioceses: Allentown, Erie, Greensburg, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh and Scranton. Over the course of two years, jurors identified 301 “predator priests” and more than 1,000 victims.

Jurors heard stories of boys and girls being groped. They heard about cases of kids becoming victims of child pornography, being made to masturbate with assailants, and being raped orally, vaginally and anally.

Underpinning the horrific alleged crimes in the report are hundreds of pages of documents from the church’s secret archives that the jurors claim show that senior church officials knew the abuse was happening and failed to act properly. Catholic leaders, including former bishops, actively worked to protect abusers and the church’s public reputation, while brushing aside victims’ reports, the jurors claim.

First, this did not "explode" (present tense). It had exploded years, decades ago. What was frustrating some is Pennsylvania's statute of limitations on this. They want the law changed, and no one blames them.

Look, as a journalist at the time, I (and others as well) were frustrated that the whole story was not being told. According to you, no one should send their children to public schools, their doctor (much less a psychologist/psychiatrist), register them for sports, clubs, or ever leave them alone with stepfathers, fathers, uncles, or cousins. The bottom line is that all professions contain a certain percentage of pedophiles--and guess what, percentage wise their is a lesser number of Catholic priests than other groupings. In other words, percentage wise your child may be safer with a priest than their own dad, and more certainly, a stepfather.

Also as a journalist (and a member of the Catholic Church) we were on the Church to fix this! If the Church couldn't fix this horrific business and be a model to other agencies, then who could and who would? In the past twenty years and more, the USCCB have insisted on changes and have pressured any diocese who was slow in implementing these changes.

I--and every Catholic--agree that if there is one place this should not occur, it is in the Catholic Church, but being of society and in society, did not make the Church magically exempt from the worst degradation in human nature. We have to be alert to it just as much as everyone else.

An extremely small percentage of priests have made things very difficult for the large percentage of priests who have always been faithful to their calling and their profession. They do not let this percentage keep them from this faithfulness any more than eleven apostles allowed the twelfth to prevent them from following through with their mission.

The radio show host this morning said the same thing. She said, "I feel bad for priests who do not molest children" because you know everyone is looking at them funny. LOL.

If this isn't the perfect example of how the church is nothing but a business run by corrupt men, I don't know what else you would need to see to be convinced.

Being involved in many parishes run by good men makes all the difference. Kind of like being able to survive a couple of horrible teachers because of the example set by the very good ones.

The Catholic Church is not about molesting children. In fact, we have a clear picture of the millstone Jesus promised those who got between him and little ones. Talk to all the parishioners who were involved in changing a number of things so that if a wolf in sheep's clothing somehow made his way in, children would remain protected. In some churches this meant priests gladly being inconvenienced so that there would be no question that the children were protected.
