Paul Ryan’s House-passed budget plan that would cut food stamps and other assistance programs for the nation’s neediest has enraged the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, which says the move does not meet certain moral criteria, reports The Hill.

Ryan, the chairman of the House Budget Committee, that his Catholic faith was instrumental in his shaping of the budget, which he claims is consistent with Catholic teaching that government shouldn’t be responsible for lifting its citizens out of poverty

Bishops: Rep. Ryan's Budget Plan Fails to Meet Moral Criteria

In joint letters to the House and Senate sent on March 3, the bishops addressed the “moral and human dimensions of the federal budget,” and their fear that pressure to reduce the deficit would wipe out Pell Grants, workforce training and development, nutrition assistance, low-income tax credits and safe and affordable housing for the less fortunate.

A letter dated April 4 went to the House Appropriations Committee and focused solely on potential cuts to Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) programs that benefit the poor, elderly, veterans and those with disabilities.

At a private fundraising event on Sunday, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney told supporters that if elected, he might look to eliminate HUD

Ryan's budget cuts 5 trilling from government. But it gives millionaires 4 trillion in tax cuts. For the money they get, they should be in the military protecting the country that protects their money.

Republicans call my threads "troll". You can see why. They insist the Republicans party doesn't believe in these terrible policies. I don't make this up. This is the Republican Party. You vote for them, then whether you believe in this meanness or not, you are promoting it. You want to vote for a man you consider a member of a "cult" over a Christian you want to believe is a "Muslim". But it has NOTHING to do with race? Nothing? You sure?

There is no "Ryan Budget". The House draws up a budget and it goes to the do-nothing obstructionist democrat controlled senate and then it is signed by the socialist president who is currently reading a book that lays out a plan for the "post American world".

Then what is it Ryan and Romney are "promoting"?

Did you find things in that budget you liked?

Obama's budget has yet to get a single Yea vote in Congress but has the endorsement of a tribal shaman in the Congo

Yes, the classic love/hate relationship between social conservatives and the Church: best of friends when it comes to abortion, but when the Church admonishes the right for its immoral and unethical position concerning the poor, the Vatican becomes a considerable adversary.

How come we never ask these aholes if they read the Ryan budget? They always use that one against us when we pass a bill but are these righties really sitting at home reading the Ryan bill or counting how many pages it is in length?

Hey any righty out there. Please tell me how many pages the Ryan budget is long.

Why should Romney care what the Catholic Church thinks? From now on, I only want to hear what the Mormon Church thinks.

Catholics and every other denomination need to realize that Mormons think you are all cults. When Jesus' deciples or apostles died 2000 years ago, who did they pass on their authority to? Who was the man or what was the church? And show me how that authority from God was passed down generation to generation and where it exists today. For example, does the Pope have it? Do the Born Agains have it? No. It died with Jesus' deciples. And for 1000 years the Catholic church is just a cult. The Crusades where we faught religious wars with Muslims. That was all a cult following. And they created the bible and it is only their man made word.

Joseph Smith prayed to god in 1800 which church he should join. God told him what I just told you above. God told him to start his own church. And their Apostles that are alive today still have that authority, passed on to them from elders who died but passed it on and it exists today. They have living Apostles. Google Southparks Dumb Dumb Dumb Mormon episode to see the entire story summed up perfectly. I confirmed it with my Mormon friend.
