If you live in IL, then you are getting bombarded with this story. The CEO of arguably the most important Corporation in Illinois basically told Gov Douche Bag that IL better change it's business unfriendly climate (the highest corporate tax in the world) or they are shipping out!!!

Of course Gov Douche Bag responses the typical arrogant way of dismissing the warning and then going to the media calling the CEO of Caterpillar (who no doubt has a large ego) a liar! Why the move takes place Quinn, no matter what you do at that point, they aren't coming back!

On the evening news yesterday, they had a very large list of C-Corps that already made the jump to other states. IN is the biggest receiptant the IL C-Corp exodus. Governor Daniels must send Governor Quinn a thank you letter for making his job easier! I know WS is getting a good share also, no doubt businesses feel more comfortable with Walker at the helm than the Quinn!

SPRINGFIELD -- The chairman and CEO of Peoria-based Caterpillar Inc. is raising the specter of moving the heavy equipment maker out of Illinois.

In a letter sent March 21 to Gov. Pat Quinn, Caterpillar chief executive officer Doug Oberhelman said officials in at least four other states have approached the company about relocating since Illinois raised its income tax in January.

"I want to stay here. But as the leader of this business, I have to do what's right for Caterpillar when making decisions about where to invest," Oberhelman wrote in the letter obtained Friday by the Lee Enterprises Springfield bureau. "The direction that this state is headed in is not favorable to business and I'd like to work with you to change that."

Oberhelman said he's being actively courted to move.

Oberhelman didn't single out any specific problem with the state's policies in his one-page letter, but Dugan said the recent income tax increase -- signed into law by Quinn in January -- played a significant role in triggering the note.
The tax hike has led to attempts by other states, including Wisconsin, Indiana and New Jersey, to try and poach companies that don't want to stay in the Land of Lincoln.

AWESOME!!!

The treck to make Ill look like Detroit is well on it's way!!

For anyone that follows what goes on in Ill, this is not that shocking. For anyone that doesn't know how important Catapillar is. Just imagine the biggest factory or source of jobs in your STATE, moving out.

*sigh*

At this rate it's gonna be coal miners and farmers.

interesting when you consider how much Caterpillar is investing in china as of late. Funny that they would bend over backwards for that actual socialist nation, yet here, its, lets pack up and move.

GM built an 800 million dollar plant in Mexico. Didyaknowthat?

Why would they stay in Illinois? The Socialist/Progressive Democrats destroyed that State a long time ago. Have you seen Chicago lately? It's a miserable Third World War Zone at this point. Caterpillar will have to do the right thing and leave. Illinois has become Democrat-Hell. Time to get out.

Can't blame any business in ILL for moving. Taxes must be killing all business in that State. To bad for the citizens because if the buisiness leaves then so will jobs.

Guess ILL could learn a little something about being buinsess friendly.

Cats a great company. Lets see where they go.

With our money.

Ironically this is the same Plant Hopey Changey gleefully boasted about only a year ago. Illinois shouldn't have listened to their Socialist/Progressive Wingers. They'll have to pay a price now.

I'd bet money on Indy.

The gov there is going out of his way to bring biz into the state. Even going so far as to help them move. I don't agree with that part, but as long as the locals are good with it....

I am getting very nervous about my company. Last year they shipped customer service to Texas. This year they increased the sales force (after decreasing it substantially in chicago) in New Jersey recently. They have moved the engineers to Texas and Chile. Marketing is the next rumored to be moving to Texas. From layoffs and transfers, my company's Chicago location has gone from 1,200+ employees (just two years ago) to under 500! If they move either compliance or sales (I split time between the two), then I have some tough convincing to do. I would love the move. Heck I never wanted to leave Arizona, but my wife would never consider moving! Do long distance marriages work? Heck not even short distance ones work! Scratch that idea!

Yea i hear ya Hook. Socialist/Progressive Dems know nothing about Business. What little they might know is all wrong. Business is "Evil" to most of these Wingers. It's just too bad Illinois allowed their Dem Wingers to thoroughly hijack their State. Looks like they're gonna have to pay a price for that. I wish you the best of luck. I really do mean that.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

or some such non-sense.

tell her it's a dry heat and it doesn't snow like it does in Il.

uhm, stress the snow part.

Raising those taxes was the the stupidest thing they could have done. You can claim they have long range thinking, can you? Well, perhaps they can write a best sellter, "Balancing the State Budget for Idiots."

So, Catipillar stays in Illinois all of these years reaping the benefits of being in that state. And now, when the state needs Catipillar, they threaten to run away.
