Castro: GOP primary a 'competition of idiocy and ignorance'

Castro said he always assumed the candidates would try to outdo each other on the issue of Cuba, but that he was nonetheless appalled by the level of debate.
"The selection of a Republican candidate for the presidency of this globalized and expansive empire is — and I mean this seriously — the greatest competition of idiocy and ignorance that has ever been," said the retired Cuban leader, who has dueled with 11 U.S. administrations since his 1959 revolution.

Nice to see the arrogance of those who purport to know what the 'American people' think.

How very liberal of you, rightwhiner.

How the hell does anyone know what the American people think??

And who would give a fuck about what OL'Fidel says about anything.

Thought that dirtbag was dead.

Even a crazy Communist dictator can look at the current crop of Republican candidates and say...

Damn.....those dudes are idiots

RightWhiner does. Without an election (how very left wing), he has nominated himself to speak for us. Isn't that nice of him?

He's an ass.

We should probably send planes to bomb him for daring to say anything about our global and expansive empire.

I am not on the left but I don't think cuba is a threat to us.....does anyone really? Or are we in the business of toppling dictatorships now and not just handling threats to national security?

Nice post Товарищ. Comrade Castro and the rest of the commies (lefties) surely know what's best for Amerika.

So you like Castro the dictator's opinions regarding American politicians do you?

You are enjoying his commentary and believe the ancient beast to be correct in his perceptions?

Castro calls Obama stupid, slams Cuba policy
September 29, 2011|By Shasta Darlington, CNN

Ex-Cuban leader Fidel Castro many things would change in Cuba, but only thanks to Cubans' own efforts.

Former Cuban leader Fidel Castro lashed out at U.S. President Barack Obama on Thursday for demanding changes on the island in order to improve bilateral relations and referred to him as "stupid."

Whether you approve of Fidel Castro or not, he's never been dumb. This is a guy who took power from a U.S.-supported dictator against long odds, and held on to power through decades of antagonism from the most powerful state in the world whose closest territory was 70 miles off his coast and that maintained a military base in his own country. Anyone with a record like that should be listened to. Not necessarily agreed with, but disagreements should be expected mostly in the area of values not facts.

His point here was not that the Republican candidates met his disapproval (he expected that) but that they were just plain ignorant and idiotic. This is a value-neutral observation. He's saying that none of them would make a worthy opponent.

And yet he derides Obama and calls him stupid. And you believe he should be listened to on that critique of the President?

Why would the left want to side with an arch conservative? Castro is not by any stretch of the imagination liberal or progressive. He supports the status quo. Granted. he is not much like today's conservatives who are (far, far right) reactionaries, but he is not a bleeding heart liberal or progressive.

obama agrees with Castro too.

Like Castro, obama woudn't permit criticism either.
