Carter gave Islamists Iran and Obama gave Egypt to the Mus. Brotherhood

Khomeini and co took Iran. No giving was involved.

As for Egypt, let's wait and see what the military will do (although I doubt they have the stomach for a full-scale repression).

No, but the extremists claim we didn't 'support' the Shah. As if we can choose the leader of every country in earth.

A generation ago, Jimmy Carter dropped US support of Shah Phalavi paving the way for the Islamists to get state sponsorship by taking over Iran. Today's Carter, Barry Obama, has paved the way for another radical Muslim organization, the Muslim Brotherhood to take control of Egypt.

Why could possible go wrong?

"Egypt's ruling military has issued a declaration granting itself sweeping powers, as the country awaits results of Sunday's presidential elections.

The document by the Supreme Council of Armed Forces (Scaf) says new general elections cannot be held until a permanent constitution is drawn up.

Opposition groups condemned the move as amounting to a military coup.

Meanwhile, the Muslim Brotherhood says unofficial results show its candidate, Mohammed Mursi, has won the election."

Yes, Virginia, elections have consequences and the Muslim Brotherhood is telling everyone, "We won!"
Well said, Crusader. Obama will go down as the second worst president in history, after Carter.

You are lucky, out of the country for the Bush II & Reagan years. Historians still rank Buchanan as the worst, but Bush II will be nipping at his heels.

Uh, Reagan gave Afghanistan to the Taliban, and the Shah was in trouble by 1976. You forgot that part.
Reagan and Bush 1 evicted the Russians who had invaded Afghanistan during the Carter years, because rhey saw a weak Presidency, or did you forget to include that in your summation. Why do you people always distort history.

I seriously doubt anybody can be as bad as Carter. Once Obama gets booted out on his ass, maybe then Carter will have some competition for the worst spot.

It was handed to them once Carter let them know we would no longer support the Shah.

The Shah tried repression and he failed. Nothing the US could have done could have stopped the rot in his regime.

The Taliban didn't exist when Reagan was in office. Why do you have to lie?

Nonsense. It's too early to judge Bush II but it is unlikely that he will ever be considered as much of a disaster as Carter. Obviously Buchanan and Pierce will remain among the worst. Nothing serious can be said yet about how Obama will be seen.

It's a mistake to try to argue that Obama is somehow responsible for what is happening in the Middle East. Even in Libya he was following, rather than leading. All in all Obama hasn't really taken any serious or important initiatives in the Middle east and is unlikely to do so.
